Leaked DOJ Memo: Outlaw And Confiscate All Guns...

The National Rifle Association has obtained a Department of Justice memo calling for national gun registration and confiscation. The nine page “cursory summary” on current gun control initiatives was not officially released by the Obama administration.

The DOJ memo (downloadable here as a PDF) states the administration “believes that a gun ban will not work without mandatory gun confiscation,” according to the NRA, and thinks universal background checks “won’t work without requiring national gun registration.” Obama has yet to publicly support national registration or firearms confiscation, although the memo reveals his administration is moving in that direction.

This is one thing that would start an actual civil war.

When the NRA found the memo did they also find Lois Lerner's e-mails as well?:laugh:

I agree Rev, if O was to ever make this move it will lead to anarchy and a revolution of some kind.

If done, that would be possibly the single dumbest thing this, or any other, administration has ever done.

Then again I don't know that anyone ever has accused this administration of having an over-abundance of intelligence.

    Spot on, brother!

This administration seems to be one floor short of a tall building! But, how much of that is really clueless in Seattle time, or showmanship?

This could lead to an unsettling civil war! And I for one am not giving up my right to protect myself and my family!

Ain't gonna happen. You can mark it down and call me up on it if I am wrong. In fact, if it happens during this administration I will leave this board.

I quickly read through the pdf linked to in the article, but didn't see the words about banning and confiscation. I'll try to get back to it, but in the meantime could someone find the context for the quote in the document?

I am interested in the Reno quote in your sig line, but I can't find a source for it, even using Google. All I find is the quote without where or when and usually from far right sites or blogs. I know that it is possible the google.ie may miss something, so could you provide a link to where and when she said or wrote it please?

Major problem: The source for the story is InfoWars.

Look at the very bottom of the article. Further, there is nothing in the linked "memo" referencing DOJ, banning guns, or national registration of guns. It is, in fact, an NIJ (National Institute of Justice) study on the ineffectiveness of gun buyback programs. in other words, epic fail.

Obama's scary, but putting out pure garbage like this just numbs the minds of the doubting. If this is the "evidence" we present of Obama's treachery, no one is going to take our warnings seriously.

Thanks for that TND - we agree that false evidence does more harm than good.

With this post you have exposed yourself as A LIBERAL! A FLAMING LIBERAL!!

TND's appeal to reasonableness is the sort of posts I've been making on BB for years and I usually get called the "L" word for doing it. One of my first posts on here was a compilation of all the stupid emails about Obama's faults (doesn't wear a flag label pin, puts his feet up on the White House desk, etc.) which distracts us from to the real damage he is doing to the country via debt and social policy changes.

Incorrect. This memo has been comfirmed time and time again as authentic. You need to dig a little deeper. I await your apology.

The justice department has owned the memo and have been busily trying to explain it away.

    Huffpo says

    You've got a long wait.

This is the verbiage in the link that appears in the article claiming to be the memo authorizing the nonsense stated in the OP:
While the summary of Ridgeway's study makes a statement about buybacks in conjunction with bans on certain weapons, there is no overarching proposal to outlaw all guns and confiscate them from U.S. citizens. Such a contention is ludicrous once one reads the actual memo. In fact, his final paragraph indicates the combined buyback-and-ban legislation had no real effect on Australian crime rates, which would indicate this is not an endorsement of that or any expanded version of the plan.
If HuffPo actually said that, they pretty well summarized the truth of the matter. I don't doubt at all the Obama administration has a desire to ban all guns entirely.

This document doesn't prove it, however. Claiming it does just muddies the waters in attempting to show this administration's treachery. Real evidence is preferred to nonsense.

Where in the memo do we read anything
    about confiscation?

I knew you were stubborn. Even when it's looking you in the face, you can't admit you were wrong.

So be it. It's something to remember.

You can make of the memo what you want, but it is authentic and you said it wasn't.

Like it or not. You're just flat wrong.

    First things first.

The memo is authentic. That is laid to rest.

You couldn't find the word? Read again.

Ah! Now I know what the problem is. You didn't read my first post accurately.

I never said the memo wasn't authentic. It is authentically a summary of a study Ridgeway did on buy back programs in conjunction with the ban of certain weapons.

What I said is, it doesn't say what your OP claims it says. There is nothing about confiscation or a total gun ban. And that ain't wrong at all.

Yes it does. In your haste to discredit the source, you failed to read critically.

The conclusions drawn by the NRA from reading the memo are clearly quoted

In either case, the title is not mine, but the author of the story.

Just as they totally ignored the memo's statement that an assault weapons ban would have no appreciable effect on gun deaths, the Obama administration and their anti 2nd amendment cronies in Congress proceeded to try to pass an assault weapons ban.

Knowing the Obama administration as we all do, it is an easy conclusion to draw that, if registration doesn't work as the study says, confiscation would be the answer. You may not agree with that conclusion, but it's a natural. And the NRA is no more over-reactive that Obama and his cronies who totally ignore the conclusions of the study about "assault weapons".

Can they get it done. Not through Congress. But you know what Obama thinks about going through congress...

I saw those words, but those words are not in the memo - no matter what the NRA says - it is untrue, pure and simple.
