Legendary personages

Which of these legendary persons/heroes, whose true existence cannot be positively identified, do you think really existed?…that is, in the form of the persons, or pairs thereof, not simply ideals or striking similarities?.

 

Jack the Ripper seems to be very much the leader here. What makes you so sure he [the one and only] is guilty of the crimes committed in his name? How do you know the slashings didn't begin with 2 or 3 such crimes, similar but not related, and/or the reports of them led to one or more 'copycats?'

As to no one [including me] believing there was a real Romeo & Julet, who (if anyone) do you think that is a gold [supposedly] statue of in Verona, which thousands of people want to touch the breast (some silly superstitution associated with doing so)?
