I know that many "Christians" do NOT take the following passage seriously, but it’s okay … I’m used to it. "But IF we (Christians) walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses(*) us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. IF we confess (repent of) our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse(*) us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us." (1 John 1:7-10) (*) the Greek tense means “keeps on cleansing (purifying)” John is telling Christians what is required for God to ... “forgive us our sins” and “cleanse (purify) us from all unrighteousness”. “Whoever has been born of God does not sin(*), for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.” (1 John 3:9) (*) this means in the Greek “continue to sin without repenting, continually live in sin”. Now, let’s look at what Jesus Himself said about forgiveness … “Forgive, and you will be forgiven.” (Luke 6:37) “… if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.” (Mark 11:25-26, Matthew 6:14-15) … and a really long version may be found in Matthew 18:21-35. If you do not forgive everyone (IMO, before you die), Father God will not forgive your sins. Qvestion: Will Father God accept you into heaven, if He has not forgiven your sins? .
