The thread is about the UN and now is sidetracked into Supreme Court Justices! I give up! Carry on! (sigh)

The biggest steps to socialism lay right ahead of us with Obama at the helm of ship full of Democratic pirates looking to rape America. But back to the UN.

I say let it crumble - both the office in Europe which the link was about and the headquarters here in New York. It is an organization that mostly serves the interests of others around the world at great expense to the USA. It is an organization that threatens our sovereignty and desires to mandate "international law" upon us. It is a great danger to us and we've been funding it. We need to pick and chose our friends on our own by separately and carefully negotiated treaties. We don't need a world body to decide what's right and wrong for America.

Yes, that may be during the final two months of the Bush administration. Arguably, no president has made bigger strides toward making the United States socialistic than President George W. Bush.

That's a cute play with an out-of-context quote but in four years we can compare the "progress" made towards socialism and there will be no doubt that the Obamanites will win the race towards an all-encompassing socialist state.

But, now back to the UN once more. We need to get out of the United Nations and stop supporting this out-of-control organization that spews out so much anti-American garbage while being largely funded by us.

I couldn't disagree with more with such an isolationist idea.

It doesn't imply being an isolationist. We need to cut our own deals with whomever we want when we want and why we want. We should not subject ourselves to the growing threat of some kind of "world government" that threatens our sovereignty especially by helping to fund it!

Come on! Everyone knows that a world government will make it easier for Earth to eventually join the United Federation of Planets. :)

So why did Bush claim we invaded Iraq because they had not followed the UN resolutions? If the UN means nothing, who cares? Just another excuse.

So the trend of our giving up our sovereignty to an outside body doesn't bother you?

Man alive, I remember a KenH that believed in freedom and liberty. What happened to him?

Congrats on bringing President Bush into yet another thread.

Now be honest...if President Bush had acted unilaterally, you'd be fussing about that.

The UN is a patently anti-American organization. Anybody who would put Sudan on the Committee on Human Rights is an idiot.

The UN is rife with corruption. It is a waste of time, money, and good New York real estate.

We're all in this together. I reject your international Darwinism.

    Reality.

Wow...so, then, we should all be under the banner of one world government, right?

    Scary.

I think we need international cooperation, not a one world government. I reject the "cowboy" foreign policy of President Bush's first term(it improved in his second term as he listened to Condi Rice after not listening to General Powell in his first term).

Your premiss is false and therefore your line of argumentation is invalid. We did not invade Iraq because they had not followed the UN resolutions. We returned to a state of hostilities with Iraq because Saddam's government had violated the original Cease-fire Agreement between the U.S. and Iraq (dated March 1991).

Is this reason number 12 or number 13, I forget. It's easy do do; seems like the Bush administration and their supporters come up with a new reason for this war every time they are asked to explain why we are there.

This thread seems to have wandered waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy off of the OP which was ... let me think .... hmmmmmmmmmm .... about the UN I believe. And now it is on why the US invaded Iraq. I wonder if we will ever sort out all the reasons given and ............. no I guess not. However, I'll start a new thread on that topic. Cheers. :wavey:

Yes, and I will close this one. Seems if someone doesn't like the topic, they hijack the thread to be about Bush....
