I don't have "the answer", I'm searching. I've reread Exodus 21 about five times in the last couple of days. I'm beginning to belive that it tells me that a living, breathing person is worth more than a fetus . Am I wrong, misguided ,crazy or....right ?

There have been plenty of verses and explanations given to you in this thread. You either believe God is the Author of life and the Bible or you do not.

In your last question, yes to the first three adjectives.

It is quite simple. Murder is wrong. It is wrong for Democrats, Republicans, liberals, or conservatives.

By the way, from your screen name, how would you like it if it was deemed that adults in their 20s to 50s were much more productive than you, and that you were a burden on society, and subject to some form of abortion for the other end of the age scale? What is the difference between that and what you just asked in your first question?

Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Life is given by God. Without the breath of life from God, we are just an empty shell. To say this life is soul-less is to deny that we are created in God's image.

When the spirit leaves the body, there is physical death. When the spirit enters the body, there is physical life. Physical life is impossible apart from the spirit.

    No spirit = no life.

    No life = no spirit.

    They occur simultaneously.

I don't suppose we do anything with them. That is up to the law of the land, and the last time I checked, I was neither in the Congress, the President, or on the Supreme Court, nor do I hold a state office.

It is the responsibility of a Christian to speak out for what is right, especially on a sin as outrageous as this. It is up to Christians to vote for leaders who will stop the practice.

Why are you so worried about the penalty rather than getting it stopped? There is nothing that I or any government could do to those who trade in and make money off of the blood of innocent children that God does not already have planned for them.

The "law" says its not murder. If law is wrong , do you still follow it or do you follow the "law' written in your heart ?

webdog and the others have pretty much nailed it. With life come the soul. The body is not life, just a shell for the soul to live in. The resurected bodies will not be the same as we have here, they will be glorified, not corruptible. Yet we will know as we are known, Paul wrote. I will be me, but not in this old broken down body. I came into existance when my mother concieved me. God knew me from that time. I was alive, with a soul. Webdog showed scripture that states when man came to life he had a soul. Can anyone show an example of one alive who has not a soul? Scripture supports the concept of life in the womb. Are there scripture that states otherwise?

Jim poses the argument, very politely by the way, that abortion may be wrong (although I don't know if he has ever came out and said that) we offer no alternatives, so that makes it acceptable. People argue that voting for a politition that supports choice (murder) is no differant than voting for a party that takes us to war. never admitting that a political party did not take us to war, our contry was blatently attacked.

I read that we are murdering Iraq's by the thousand, yet when I speak with soldiers who are serving in Iraq or have served, they tell me the stories of providing food, water, and much needed medical treatment. My son can tell you stories that will rip your heart out about how they go into a town and wait, sometimes for hours, till people come out of hiding and start coming to them. Sick, wounded, starving, dehydrated. The medics provide treatment and the people love them. I'm so sick of people saying that because I am consevative that i don't care. No conservative aren't perfect, liberals aren't perfect. But we do have to make a choice on who we wan't to lead us. Abortion is not the only issue. But as far as i am concerned any politition at any level that is Pro-choice (murder) will never get my vote.

My position has always been: Abortion if necessary, but not necessarily abortion.

Recently, a young woman, never married, gave birth to twins with the heads joined together. Some doctors wanted to deliver these children, knowing in advance it was a sad situation. Now, the children lived and they can never be separated. They are doomed to a life under state care. They will forever need medical attention. Would an abortion better serve this situation? I can't make that decision, but I wouldn't object to it.

Another woman wold have died if she had carried to birth. Is an abortion not called for to save a life? I don't have to make that decision, but I wouldn't object.

A young girl get preggy because of her sin. This abortion I object to. Abortion should never be used in place of birth control.

Does this make my viewpoint clear?

I just don't see all the loud noises and not providing more alternatives. Yes, some churches are practicing what they preach, but most churches are just preaching.

Politics aside. We are electing people to run the country in our behalf, and we would be hard pressed to find unanimity on this questions, so we just choose the best person we can. My opinion.

    I prefer life over all.

    Cheers,

    Jim

That would be murder. Don't you think God knew how those girls would come out? Who are we to play God and decide who should live or die due to a medical abnormality? "They" are made in the image of God, with a real purpose and reason to be alive. It's truly sad a pastor thinks otherwise :tear:

    Jim,

You have as yet to post anything with cheer. Why then do you offer it? There is nothing cheerful about an abortion and frankly your salutation is quite offensive in regards to the subject at hand.

    Cheers,

I think that to deal with the topic of abortion we need to recognize that there were illegal abortions performed before Roe vs. Wade. I don't think we really know how many of these were performed because the only reason to report one was if things went wrong and a doctor had to be brought in to save a woman's life after a botched abortion. There's a need to address not just the law but also the conditions that lead a woman to take this step. To really stop, or ct way back, on abortions these conditions need to be changed.

I look at illegal abortions as being much like suicides. They're against the law but what is done about it?

    Jim,
I understand your stance Thank you for clarifying it. I do repectfully disagree.

Sometimes a problem must be identified before a solution can be found. While I disagree with your exceptions regarding abortion, I am more outspoken with the abortion on demand that many citizens support. You will find that the majority of abortions are performed not out of medical necessity, nor financial considerations. In fact the majority of folks in this region get a raise when they concieve yet another child. Our Goverment funded poverty that we have just keeps them entraped, but that is another topic. Most abortions come with the middle class deciding out of convenience.

While solutions are needed for resolution, in the majority of cases the solution is for the mother to realize that abortion is wrong. While it is a choice to have sex or not It should not be a choice to destroy a life out of convenience.

A rather twisted view since abortion is the murder of another human being. Not even close to the same thing.

Why yes, it is between Exodus 20 and Exodus 22.

It also has nothing to do with the thread.
