Do you think if Jerry Sr were still around this would of happened? Before you say no, remember he took a bunch of money from The Moonies.

    Pastor Mitchell,

Thank you for expressing your concerns. Chancellor Falwell asked me to convey the following message.

A strong gospel message will be delivered by Dr. Paige Patterson at LU's
    Commencement but please understand that
LU has always had two commencement ceremonies--baccalaureate and graduation.
Baccalaureate is intended to deliver one last gospel message to our
graduates and their families before they leave LU. The speaker is always
someone who is a solid Christian leader. This year it is Dr. Paige
Patterson. Graduation speakers have never been chosen based on their
religious beliefs. Instead, the speakers have represented leaders from every
walk of life who share LU's social and traditional family values. The
speakers have included Roman Catholic, Episcopalian, Jewish, and some with
no religious affiliation at all. Their speeches have focused on the values
they share with LU, not on their faith. Like Convocation but unlike Campus
Church, Commencement is not a worship service and LU has made it clear that
it does not endorse the religious views or lifestyle choices of its
Convocation or Commencement speakers. Thank you for your concern!

Yes, basically the same thing their press release on the matter said. It still doesn't change that beck is a Mormon and it doesn't sit well that they would bring him on to speak. They could use the same reasoning to bring in a Muslim. Would you support that?

I couldn't care less about Liberty University . I only see this as a political matter, once again turned into a religious matter.

Big to do over nothing. I am glad that I am settled enough in my faith to be able to listen to and not be influenced by someone that has a religious view other than my own. Does anybody on here actually think that the graduates of Liberty University will be proselytized and converted over to Mormonism by Glenn Beck? A'int gonna happen. In life we are exposed to all kinds of people with different beliefs than our own. We can be influenced by one's values, principles, and morals without becoming a member of one's faith.

I understand where you are coming from, but if Obama were to bring a Muslim onto the Supreme Court or into his cabinet, the same people defending Liberty would scream the loudest about a Obama bring in a Muslim.

Comparing apples to oranges. Sitting on the Supreme Court and delivering a commencement speech at a university are worlds apart. And I would be one of the ones screaming the loudest if BHO made a choice such as the one you have suggested.

I also would decry such a choice. I feel my view is consistent in each case. i don't think we should deal with cultists at any time :).

Understood and I respect that. Your view must be that conviction thing you and I went round and round on earlier.
