What are some scriptural limitations for divorced men? I am not nor will I ever be a senior or any type of pastor since this is not my gifting. I bet I won't be allowed to preach in a IFB church but it's not like I want to anyways? If I get an opportunity to teach at my new church can I? I know a guy in the church who regularly teaches the men and he has been divorced 3 times so that one is not out.

But I still can be a open air preacher and street evangelist correct? You know the type of preaching that Ray Comfort and Paul Washer encourage people to do. Also the type of preaching that Jesus often did as well as the apostles so this type of preaching (although frowned on by many Christians) is biblically sound. And no one says a divorced man and a man who drinks alcohol on occasion cannot do correct?

Wow. That was a fast divorce! To be honest, a divorce of a believer - having gotten married as a believer and very quickly divorced as a believer for reasons other than adultery, abuse or abandonment set in my mind that there is a huge issue in the life of this believer and they would be completely disqualified for a long time in our church. A divorce of a young man before he was saved is one thing. Even if it were a Biblical divorce, we require the person to step down from any and all ministries since there is a hurt and healing that needs to be done.

Evan - I mean this with all love and respect - I think it is time to step down and get your life together. You cannot say that God is an answer to sin when you yourself left your wife for no Biblical reason other than you didn't like things about her - things that were clear and were addressed before you married. To be honest, this would potentially be a situation for church discipline IMO. So get yourself discipled, get yourself right with God and then consider down the road what God wants you to do.

Evan, I agree with everything that Ann said - However - the parts of her post that I quoted are of extreme importance!

    Two other things -
    1) I think you keep asking all these questions, until you find someone to justify your actions.
    2) Methinks there is a whole lot more to this story -both your marriage and divorce - that you have not shared.- which could make a large impact on the advice you need and require.

Therefore, as I recommended in the other thread- find an excellent Christian counselor....

    2 Corinthians 5:18 ESV
All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation

ANY divorce other than for reasons God perits means that person is now disqualified frm "official" positions within church.

Can they still b used by the Lord? N doubt, but not in such a capacity as before!

Not saying this as judging you, but just that certain deeds disqualify a person from being in certain positions in the church...

It's okay it's not like I had it going for any of those positions anyways. I will just continue as a street evangelist like I was before.

Not true not true. Yeshua does not say things to please me yet I will chat with him. The same goes for a few others here. They are few but valuable.

Strange. Neither Jon C nor Yeshua tell me what I want to hear yet I listen to them. Why is that?
