I note that my school,Mid-Continent College Mayfield KY, is listed as "Kentucky Baptist Convention." We are KBC-friendly; in semi-retirement, I'm a consultant for the state convention Direct Missions Team. But largely because of geography (look at your map) we are owned by associations of Southern Baptist churches in Illinois and Tennessee as well as KY.

Baptist College of the Bible (where I serve as an adjunct now) is primarily for Baptist ministerial students; Baptist College of Arts and Sciences has several majors. Over 800 students, including several off-campus in the "Advantage" program for older students.

This isn't intended as an "ad," just updating the info - glad you're listing Baptist schools. There are lots of non-accredited ones, some very good, some which probably would choose not to be listed because of their specific purpose.

which is the website for Temple Baptist Church. The college is a ministry of the church, and the regular "year-round" members take that seriously, encouraging and helping the young adults. Curtis Hutson was a founder of Crown College, but what is the problem with his teaching of repentance? This Crown college watches you if you give $$$ -- tithe! Why? Nosey? Is that very absurd?

 

I believe Dr. Sexton, Pastor of the Temple Baptist Church, is the founder of Crown. I was there a year ago and he has a wonderful place!!
I myself am considering going there once I complete some home corses from Gulf Coast Bible Institute and Sem.

I went to Grand Canyon for one year. Last spring, we visited the campus, and I was told by a student that the school had been purchased by a marketing group and was no longer a Baptist school. (?!!!!!!!?????!!!!!!????)

I know the website says something different, but this was from someone on campus when we visited.

You have just made the stay of new member RevJWWhiteJr, whom incidentally I erronoiusly ascribed to this position, one of the shortest on record by finding a thread that was dead for 4 yr. 8 mos. and resurrecting it.

He only managed to get one that was dead for 2 yr, 5 mo. "You beat that by a country mile!"

Incidentally, I agree with the "sticky" concept for this list. It certainly does not need to slide back into oblivion. And I'll have a couple of additions and addendae to make to it, shortly.

Cumberland College at Williamsburg, KY is now known as the University of the Cumberlands, http://www.ucumberlands.edu/

and should not be confused with nearby Cumberland University in Lebanon, TN. Cumberland Univ. (TN) has the ignomious distinction of being on the receiving end of the worst football loss in college history in 1916 at the hands of Ga. Tech, then coached by the legendary John Heisman (for whom the Heisman Trophy is named), a 222- 0 drubbing.

Obviously, they needed to get to the basics of the game. "This is a football!" :laugh:

Kentucky Bible College is questionable, as to whom the name identifies There is both a Kentucky Mountian Bible College at Jackson, KY. I do not know if this is 'distinctively Baptist' or not, having no personal knowledge of this school.

Dayspring Bible College, a ministry of Quentin Road Bible Baptist Church, Lake Zurich, IL (Chicago area) [The founding and Senior Pastor of Quentin Road, Dr. James A. Scudder, has been a personal friend of mine for 40 years now, and he erroneously credits me and another friend, for leading him to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, 40 years ago. It is actually more of a case of an Aquilla and Priscilla instructing Apollos, more accurately.] I can recommend this institution, although it is unaccredited, as a good place for Biblical instructiuon and doctrinal accuracy.

Degrees from the University of the Cumberlands are likely to be acceptable virtually anywhere. I cannot speak to those offered by any other institution on this list.
