Does discussion/disagreement over sotierology rise to the level of breaking the unity of believers in christ?

James White saw fit to desert the SBC for this fledgling "Reformed Baptist" movement. Why don't his devotees follow his lead?

Depends on how much unity one desires, and how much uniformity one will require.

Take my own congregation for example. There is wonderful unity among us, but we don't all see everything the same. (That's one reason we have votes in the business meetings). But we are agreed on soteriology and a lot of other things.

if you ask Calvinist and non-Calvinist Baptists how one comes into a right relationship with God, I guarantee you that almost without exception the answer will be the same: Repent of sin and trust Christ alone for salvation.

We can unify around that, while we have the the lack of family uniformity regarding the process.

Fledgling? Go look at ARBCA's roll call of churches. The fellowship is far from fledgling.

To me , the essential thing is to have right jesus and right method of salvation, which as you state rightly is faith in him, saved by his Grace alone!

once saved, can start to understand more fully how/what/why of all that, and develop your system of doctrines...

Don't think the Apostles ever answered someone asking how to get saved to " learn and research the various systems of Sotierology, understanding fully your spiritual condition, and knowing exactly what everyhtings means by receiving jesus by faith!"
