I was given an old correspondence course book from Moody Bible institute, intitled,"Studies in the Life and Teachings of our Lord." by R.A.Torrey. copyright 1907-1909 I found, in the book, a envelope from Moody institute and a piece of notebook paper with their letterhead. The address is, Chestnut Street Station. The book was bound by John J. Hanlon Co., 844 W. Jackson Blvd. Chicago Ill. Could it be that Dr.Torrey was teaching at that time? The letter and envelope look really old to me. Is it one of their first course books? Any information helpful.

I can't give you any information about the book you mentioned, but I can tell you about values in old letters.

I bought a book on psychiatry at a lawn sale for fifty cents. In that book was a letter written by Carl Jung, the world famous co-founder of modern psychiatry. The letter was discussing his main viewpoint in psychiatry. The letter was written to a minister in Ontario in reply to a letter apparently sent to Jung.

I tried to trace the family, but could not find any living relatives of the recipient.

Well, a friend of mine is a bookseller and he took the letter to sell it. I smiled,,well, really laughed about it...Sure!

A short time later I received this email:

Looks like you are one Carl Jung letter poorer...

It fetched the full Can $1250.00......after his commission my amount came to $937.50, which meant I did not have to pay taxes, so it was clear money.

All the best with your find.

    Cheers,

    Jim
