I see a LOT of misuse and misspelling of words. Some use "alot" or "allot" in place of "a lot". "There" is often used instead of "their". "To" is used instead of "too". Some people don't know how to capitalize words in the correct places as in "I", "I'm, or at the beginning of a sentence. They use "im" or "its" instead of I'm or it's. Some people's spelling, punctuation, and grammar are atrocious, and I usually ignore such posts since they're next to impossible to comprehend. There is also the use of "your" instead of "you're". The list goes on and on.

It's not important enough to me to sit and try to figure out what the person is trying to say. If I couldn't write any better than that, I would stay out of forums or go back to school and learn how to write properly. Why bother posting something that few (if any) can read?

I so agree with you! I guess they don't realize their bad spelling (more than just a word here and there) and terrible grammar make what they write difficult to read and understand.

My father couldn't read nor write, but he tried. Sorry, I can't fault people who are trying. Not everyone is proficient in language.

By the way, my father could sing every hymn in the book! He could be a good friend to the lowliest of men and he built a multi-million dollar business by hiring people who could read, write and knew their job. I would say he was pretty clever despite the fact he couldn't read nor write.

    Cheers,

    Jim

That could be true for your father and previous generations. I think today it's mostly because peopledon't study, don't apply themselves, or just don't care. It is not that hard to know the difference between your and you're and stuff like that. :type:

My Fathers Pastor couldn't read but he said he had the Bible memorized so well folks used him like a concordance. Very few people knew he couldn't read. He said if you looked closely, you could tell his Bible was turned toward the end of the NT but he'd be siting from the OT.

It is not hard on the computer when 4 - four or for; 2 = two, to or even too. The computer has destroyed the English language as has the cell phones.

Glad to be as old as I am. Perfection is much closer.

    Cheers,

    Jim

PS, I sometimes leave out whole phrases, but it is not because I don't know any better....I let my fingers do the talking.

Jim, I like your take on it.

Most of the believers here can't read or write, but man can they quote scripture! They can sing, too! They sing for hours!
