From doing Family tree research, this name keeps popping up in families around 1850...

I found out it is because people named their children after this eccentric preacher.

Does anyone else know anything about this preacher?

Yeah, I read somewhere that he was weird!!! Just jokin bro!
I am just as weird as I use it too!

I like what the article said about his wife at the end... she musta been a little kooky too...

I still would like to know more about him.
Apparently he was well loved because a multitude of children were named Lorenzo Dow <last name>

As a matter of fact... when I was researching my family tree, I started noticing a lot of my ancestor's named this... from all branches of the family....

I began thinking there was a guy named this that was womanizing all over the place!!!

PS... just because I am from WV.... NO jokes about family trees!! lol

You know tinytim, If someone's family tree doesn't have any branches, they might be a redneck!! Just kidding. I live in West Virginia, and was raised in Kentucky, so I guess I get the jokes from both sides of the Tug River.

Trust me, go back far enough, and my family tree looks like a spider web!!! all are connected...

My grandmother explained it this way....
"The mule only went so far up the holler!"

Does anyone else have ancestors with the first name, Lorenzo, and middle name Dow?

    Especially around 1850s
