The New York Times disclosure of an official National Intelligence Estimate, which states that the Iraq invasion has worsened the global terrorist threat, carries an unspoken subtext – that the Bush administration is either woefully ignorant of how to combat terrorism or finds the terrorist threat a useful tool for managing the American public.

Americans are more interested in economic security than political freedom.

Second, "freedom" is an internal mental state. Anyone who can think "screw you," is free.

Yeah I guess a kinder gentler form of fascism is okay with most folks today Bill. Funny how most (here at least) will argue that they aren't while making excuses for it at the same time. At any rate the infrastructure for tyranny is now in place thanks to Bill Clinton and his adopted brother George W. Bush.
