After reading some of the other threads I found myself thinking we need a thread where we're reminded to encourage one another because it seems as though any time anyone makes a comment , somebody else has to analyze it and say something negative or contrary.

Lo and behold I look and there is already an encouragement thread. But after reading a few posts, i quickly realized it wasn't what I was expecting.

    Scripture says:

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[c] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. Matt. 22:37-39

34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:35

This is an open forum and sometimes I think we just lose it. Would a non-Christian reading the responses on here really think we loved one another?

    Lord forgive us all!!!:1_grouphug:

I don't disagree with what your saying, this should be a place where we come for encouragement,..........

    But
    - What duty is there of the board to point out heretical or totally unorthodox posters, so that new believers or possibly non-saved are not decieved (We can fight Arm/Cal all day long this is not what I'm talking about)

    - What duty is there of the board to point out when someone is prideful and arrogant, which can also turn off a non-believer and misrepresent the board as a whole.

I do think that we as Christians should disagree differently than the world. We should be humble enough to receive correction and rebuke. We should go straight to Scripture to answer a disagreement and realize that there are some things we won't agree on and in that case, disagree but love.

Annsi, I agree completely with your sentiment, but it is very often those very scriptures that we disagree with one another....and then attempt to beat each other up with. (sorry to end with a preposition, but we do that in Alabama)

    And....

....just what were you expecting, Zaac???

I did what I did, not to disrupt the thread, but rather to point out what was going on behind the scenes. We are reminded that it is up to the body to point out sin. Especially after the sin is addressed one-on-one, and instead of remorse, the sin continues.

I hope you understand....as I'm sure you too would have done likewise! :praying:

I guess I was expecting to see folks encouraging one another and not the details of PMs between folks.

Now we all know that IS NOT the Biblical model. Nor did we need to know what was going on behind the scenes. But let's just forget all of that.

God says His people will be known by their love one for another. But all that seems to be taking place on here is the constant tearing down and verbal attacks.

    We're all guilty.

How about everybody just stop with the snide remarks? if we disagree with someone, just say you disagree with their COMMENT instead of making everything personal.

All of the "that's a red herring" or "non sequitur" gibberish just comes across as a bunch of folks who have got to show everybody how smart they are.

Let's just disagree without trying to belittle each other.

13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin Heb. 3:13

Well, considering the human condition (including Christians), I would agree with Fred Sanford: "Love thy neighbor but locketh thy door."

Talking about locks. I put six locks on my door, and only lock three of them. This way, when a crook unlocks all six, three will now be locked, frustrating the bad guy to find he's still locked out.

Good idea, and considering the IQ of most criminals, they would never figure it out. You could call the police and enjoy a cup of coffee. :)

Plexiglas can be difficult to break. If you have a little more money, use Lexan.
