On Thursday, Dec. 6, at 1:45 pm est, Liberty University's distance learning enrollment hit the 20,000 mark. Just think, there are 20,000 students out there learning God's Word and how to apply His Word to various fields of study such as business, education, counseling, and seminary. This is wonderful news indeed! Thank God for the vision and ability He gave to Dr. Jerry Falwell.

What does one's age have to do with anything, outta' curiosity? I do not think I currently have the time to put into formal advanced study, but people much older than I (59) do it all the time. In fact, I once had a prof who earned his doctorate when he was about 60 or so.

    "What do I teach" Response

    Hello Tank,

For Liberty I teach (and have taught):
Church History (I have taught 1/2 and can teach the other 1/2),
Theo 102, an Intro to Christian Thought,

For Union University I have taught:
    Business Communications,
    (Bio &) Medical Ethics,
Intro. To Christian Ethics (Masters Level).

At my real job at an RA niche college where I work full time I teach all of the Religion courses and all of the Communications courses.

I am also an Adjunct Professor/Faculty Mentor for Columbia Evangelical Seminary.

I am also a Faculty Mentor for The Founder's (SBC) Ministry on line Ministerial Academy.

Among other things; writing, teaching, begging publishers, SS Teaching, Fire Station Bible Study, et al.

FYI! Every time I enumerate all I do I get tired! HA!

    Thanks for the info.

I have been to Union several times. I almost went there. But God had other plans.

When I was youth pastor I took kids to Centrifuge at Union. I am around 4-4 1/2 hours from Union. If I remember right?? I was there 2 yrs ago.

So if I need class help I can ask you?? Since it seems as though you don't have a lot to do:D

If I remember right, this is one of the classes I am scheduled for in January. You wouldn't happen to be teaching this during this term, would you? :wavey:

A much older friend of mine, he is in his fifties, is just finishing his masters and wants to do a doctorate degree. Why? Personal achievement. He is retired military and says he has no interest in teaching fulltime, or any fulltime job for that matter. Right now he is doing a thesis on the family genealogy of Thomas Sumpter. Because some of the research he has been conducting has not been done to this point, his research is being requested by several libraries in South Carolina, a few museums that deal with the Sumpters, and members of the Sumter family.

I am doing my thesis on the lead up to King Philip's War in southern New England. So far, no museums or libraries have asked for any of my research. So an "older guy" can do a great job in the academic world and can even make some waves.

Honestly, I am proud of him. He is working hard and deserves all the credit he is getting.
