on another thread it was mentioned about church growth that got me thinking
a question that i have. if members of a church are laxed in giving the gospel and their are people in that community that would have been saved if only the church was more willing to witness to them, yet they died without hearing the gospel is that how some see the picture? will that be the case in some instances?

in short my question is>>> can a person be lost due to a lack of christians willing to witness? in other words if i do not witness to my neighbor next door and he never hears the gospel from anyone else, will he be lost because he is un able to hear the gospel.

or is he just not one of the elect if that all happens?

hope this helps

All a sinner need do to be lost forever is nothing.

The elect of God will hear the gospel whether you or I are faithful in witness or not.

Cheers,

Jim

Ezek 33:8 When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. 9 Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

If the lost remain lost it is THIER "iniquity" that condemns them. It is iniquity on OUR part for not warning them.

This question presupposes a Calvinistic understanding of Election.

Personally I would feel bad (and guilty) that I didn't witness to him.

Christ will save his elect by the proclamation of the gospel. That is what Romans 10 is about.

Well, he certainly cannot be saved unless he believes, and he cannot believe unless he hears the gospel.

But he is LOST due to his sin.

If all that happens, then he is not one of the elect.

This may appear contradictory, but it's not. Perhaps, however, it is paradoxical.
