    I am not a "conspiracy theorist" about every little thing that happens; however, I'm having a hard time with this one because it is so massive. It is extremely difficult to imagine somebody doesn't know what happened...by now anyway.

    Gina, you're hired!! Now get to work and find out what happened!!! :D

    The bottom line, which every consumer seems to miss, is that we are wasting too much energy. We need to learn to cut back on our overall consumption. Shut off those inefficient comfort airconditioners for starters, people with extra refrigerator and freezer units in their homes, and the waste of water, which requires electric power to generate.

    We are a wanton, wasteful society, and we need to learn this and learn it well.

    The power grid in this country needs to be modernized. It's time to tell the environmental wackos and those with a NIMBY mindset to get lost on this issue so that progress can be made

    I don't think we Americans will ever totally succumb to the enviromental wacko non-people-friendly mindset and policy recommendations. :cool:

    Then live with blackouts or pay through the nose for energy. Simple enough.

    We provide energy for 280 million+ people. Environmental wackos have not proven that "environmentally sustainable" energy can do this more practically, more efficiently, and less expensively than the way we do so now. :cool:

    I prefer the third alternative. Elect enough politicians that have backbone and really care about the citizens' needs and economic progress who will tell the environmental wackos to go live a cave somewhere. :cool:

    Doing what is ethical is not necessarily synonymous with what is more practical, more efficient, and less expensive. Abortion, for instance, is far more efficient and less expensive than raising unwanted children; yet many here oppose abortion.

    Abortion is murder. Surely you can think of some other example to make your point...one that won't inflame most of the people who watch and participate on this board.

    We are OK, thanks for asking Gina. What an ordeal it was though. You have to be there to really appreciate it. I haven't slept any since this blackout started, so I am off to bed early tonight. You must have read a lot of stuff in the newspapers, have seen documentaries on TV, heard it on the radio, so I am not adding to it. Only, that the Lord is gracious and we lived through it. [​IMG] [​IMG]

    P.S. Lost the power Thursday at 4:20 PM, and got it back today at 9:40 AM. But could't log in till 12:20 PM.

    When it gets hot you need a/c. No two ways about it. It was 109 a couple of weeks ago where I live...there's no way I would ever do without a/c that is INSANE. All you northerners who can open a window just don't get it. Planet earth can handle my a/c running no problem.

    (AP) -- Bouncing back from the largest blackout in U.S. history, cities from the Midwest to Manhattan restored power Friday to millions of people -- only to confront a second series of woes created in the aftermath of the enormous outage.

    Electricity flowed in Cleveland on day two of the blackout, but water moved at a trickle. Times Square was once again the luminous center of Manhattan, but none of the subways were yet running. The lights clicked on in more than 1 million homes in Michigan, but gas remained in scarce supply around Detroit.

    Some customers in the Cleveland area, upstate New York and New York City received the unkindest cut of all: Their power was restored and then turned off due to rolling blackouts needed to conserve electricity.

    Officials in Michigan warned that the whir of air conditioners and the glow of televisions might not return until the end of the weekend as the cause of the massive outage remained a mystery.
