    Logic tells me that in order for Jesus to find you, he had to discover where you were. My question, again, is where were you hiding?

    Ed,

    The Greek word that is translated in John 3:16 as “believes” is a present active participle in the nominative case, and is masculine in gender and singular in number. According to this verse, only those persons who are actively believing in Jesus have everlasting life. Tertullian, in the third century, used this very verse to warn wayward Christians that they were in danger of eternal damnation. :(

    My logic is the Holy Bible. And the written Word of God tells me that Jesus came to seek me (Luke 19:10). Ask Him where I was hiding. He knows where He found me!

    The Bible tells us specifically about some lambs with broken legs who were so persistent in abandoning their faith that they managed to wander off.

    The Ante-Nicene Church Father taught that the eternal destiny of such lambs is eternal damnation.

    Zane Hodges teaches that the eternal destiny of such lambs is a place in heaven where there will be “weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

    J. D. Faust teaches that such lambs do not have a part in the millennial reign of Christ, but will subsequently be with Jesus.

    Many others teach that all of the lamb’s sins are covered by the blood and their immediate eternal destiny is in heaven with Jesus, the angels, and all the saints.

    Still others teach that such lambs, upon death, will be in a state of sleep until the resurrection of the saints.

    Still others teach some other doctrines.

    But, going back to Matt. 25:30, where is the place of “weeping and gnashing of teeth?” What does the Bible really teach about this place?

    How interesting! Ed believes that the Ante-Nice Scriptures are so difficult to understand that no one understood them till the 15th Century. Personally, I believe that the Scriptures were inspired by God and penned by men as the Holy Spirit gave them the words to write. Therefore it is impossible for me to believe that the Bible was so poorly written that no one was able to understand it for 1500 years, and impossible for me to believe that it is grossly misunderstood today by almost all Christians except for those with strong Calvinistic leanings. Calvinistic Baptists might want to consider that if it were not for John Calvin and his confusion regarding the Bible, there would be no such thing as Calvinistic Baptists, and many more Baptists would believe the truth regarding salvation rather than the errors taught by Calvin.

    Perhaps you misunderstood my statements :( . The doctrine of "Kingdom Exclusion" (otherwise known as "Millennial Exclusion”) was not taught by ANY of the Ante-Nicene Church Fathers. According to this doctrine, naughty Christians will not enter the Millennial Kingdom, but they will spend eternity with Jesus after the 1000 years have passed. Polycarp, like all of the Ante-Nicene Church Fathers, believed that naughty Christians were in danger of spending eternity in hell (as opposed to simply missing out on the Millennial reign of Christ), a much worse punishment than that imagined by J. D. Faust or Zane C. Hodges :( . The contemporary concept of eternal security does not appear in any Christian writings until the 15th century, although Augustine suggested the general concept in some of his final writings, but these writings are generally considered to be substantially inferior to his earlier writings and are very seldom quoted.

    The doctrine of "Kingdom Exclusion" (otherwise known as "Millennial Exclusion”) is exclusively a consequence of people who believe in eternal security trying to reconcile with that doctrine warnings of future punishment for sinful behavior on the part of Christians :confused: . All of the Ante-Nicene Church Fathers believed that future punishment to be eternal rather than temporal (during the millennium).

    I have given you the direct quote from Polycarp. The context of his statement is the Kingdom Of God, (i.e. Millenial reign with Jesus), yet you refuse to believe it. That is certainly your perogative, given the Baptist distinctive of liberty of conscience.
    You say he did NOT teach conditional entrance into the Kingdom, and that (supposedly) his view is to that of heaven? Yet you will notice that Polycarp's epistle, (like many of Paul's) is addressed to a church. A church is made up of believers. Hence they are ALREADY saved people.
    Polycarp's comments make absolutely NO SENSE if he is teaching, 'hey guys. I know yer saved but be careful, you could lose it' cuz Jesus can't keep you saved like Peter said (1 Peter 1:5)! I know cuz' I talked to him and he said that when he said that, he really didn't mean it."

    No sir. You may SAY that the ante-nicene church fathers did not teach this doctrine but it simply is not true. You will interpret what they say your way and I will simply believe they meant what they said, knowing they were taught by the very men who walked with Jesus.

    The Kingdom of God is NOT the millennial reign of Christ! If you will do a search of the phrase, "Kingdom of God," in the New Testament, you will find that I am right and that you are dead wrong!

    Sorry for being out of this discussion for so long - I've been pretty busy recently, and I kind of forgot about this thread. I will join in again in a week (or maybe less). However, for now I will say this: I HAVE done a search, not only for "kingdom of God", but for every reference of the word "kingdom" in the NT. As far as I can see, the majority of times this phrase is used it refers to something physical and future, which Christ will reign over when he returns. I do not see what else this can be, other than the millennium.

    Hello!

    Good afternoon! I let you know, I am making post on this while I am at my friend's condo. My computer still have problem with pop-ups attacks or virus. It needs to be fixed this week. I am fraustrate with it.

    Some baptists like Joey Faust believes Matt 25:30 is a temporary for during millennium kingdom. Christ does not saying this verse is a temporary.

    Faust believes Galatians 5:21 speaks of Christians sins cannot enter the kingdom of God means, cannot enter millennial kingdom.

    I told Faust in the email about 4 weeks ago. Apostle Paul never saying 'kingdom of God' speak of millennial kingdom, because he never mentioned it, 'a thousand years'. I told him on the context of Gal. 5:19-21 speaks of named of many sins, that person who doing wicked things, cannot enter eternality life- everlasting punishment.

    Also, in John 3:3,7 - Christ tells us, we MUST BE BORN AGAIN, OR.....cannot have eternal life. How does I know 'kingdom of God' speaks of eternal life? Read context in that same chapter three of John. Look to John 3:16, promises us, whosoever believing on Jesus Christ shall never go perish(everlasting punishment), but hace EVERLASTING LIFE.

    So, therefore, Gal. 5:19-21 speak very clear about any person who do wicked things, cannot have eternal life, go to everlasting punishment.

    Matt 25:30 speaks of 'outer darkness' is very obivously means, everlasting punishment, not temporary.

    I agree with bartholomew. I also have done the same search. I concur that this is a physical, literal, earthly kingdom in which Jesus will preside as King for 1000 yrs, after which He will deliver said Kingdom up unto His Father and THEN the new heaven and new earth will appear.
    This is plain in scripture revelation.
    ONLY by spiritualizing and re-interpreting plain language, and doting about meanings of words can you come to the conclusion which you and your gang espouse.

    Just the opposite is true!

    In his Epistle to the Philippians, Polycarp used the phrase “kingdom of God” only twice:

    Chapter II.-An Exhortation to Virtue.

    "Wherefore, girding up your loins,"8 "serve the Lord in fear"9 and truth, as those who have forsaken the vain, empty talk and error of the multitude, and "believed in Him who raised up our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead, and gave Him glory,"10 and a throne at His right hand. To Him all things11 in heaven and on earth are subject. Him every spirit serves. He comes as the Judge of the living and the dead.12 His blood will God require of those who do not believe in Him.13 But He who raised Him up from the dead will raise14 up us also, if we do His will, and walk in His commandments, and love what He loved, keeping ourselves from all unrighteousness, covetousness, love of money, evil speaking, false witness; "not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing,"15 or blow for blow, or cursing for cursing, but being mindful of what the Lord said in His teaching: "Judge not, that ye be not judged;16 forgive, and it shall be forgiven unto you;17 be merciful, that ye may obtain mercy;18 with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again;19 and once more, "Blessed are the poor, and those that are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of God."20

    Chapter V.-The Duties of Deacons, Youths, and Virgins.

    Knowing, then, that "God is not mocked,"29 we ought to walk worthy of His commandment and glory. In like manner should the deacons be blameless before the face of His righteousness, as being the servants of God and Christ,30 and not of men. They must not be slanderers, double-tongued,31 or lovers of money, but temperate in all things, compassionate, industrious, walking according to the truth of the Lord, who was the servant32 of all. If we please Him in this present world, we shall receive also the future world, according as He has promised to us that He will raise us again from the dead, and that if we live33 worthily of Him, "we shall also reign together with Him,"34 provided only we believe. In like manner, let the young men also be blameless in all things, being especially careful to preserve purity, and keeping themselves in, as with a bridle, from every kind of evil. For it is well that they should be cut off from35 the lusts that are in the world, since "every lust warreth against the spirit; "36 and "neither fornicators, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, shall inherit the kingdom of God,"37 nor those who do things inconsistent and unbecoming. Wherefore, it is needful to abstain from all these things, being subject to the presbyters and deacons, as unto God and Christ. The virgins also must walk in a blameless and pure conscience.

    In Chapter II, Polycarp is quoting from Matt. 5:3 and 5:10,

    Matt. 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
    Matt. 5:4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
    Matt. 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
    Matt. 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
    Matt. 5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
    Matt. 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
    Matt. 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
    Matt. 5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

    Notice here that Matthew does not use the words “kingdom of God,” but rather he wrote “kingdom of heaven.”

    In Chapter V, Polycarp is quoting from 1 Cor. 6:9-10,
    1Co 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
    1Co 6:10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

    Notice here that Paul is warning Christians that those who do such things shall NOT inherit the kingdom of God!


    Where in this Epistle of Polycarp to the Philippians is he teaching eternal security???

    Well, Jim, you certainly have the right to be wrong! :D The truth, however, is that the disciples did not have a clue to the idea of a temporary kingdom, physical or otherwise. They were looking for a physical, eternal kingdom in which the Christ would reign instead of a Roman emperor :eek: . Jesus told his disciples that they were barking up the wrong tree, but they ignored him and tried to make a king out of Him :eek: . Jesus NEVER said anything about a temporary physical kingdom.

    Matt. 3:2 "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

    Matt. 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach and say, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

    Matt. 4:23 And Jesus was going about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people.

    Matt. 5:10 "Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

    Matt. 5:19 "Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and so teaches others, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

    Matt. 5:20 "For I say to you, that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven.

    Matt. 5:3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

    Matt. 6:10 'Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.

    Matt. 6:13 'And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.]'

    Matt. 6:33 "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.

    Matt. 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven.

    Matt. 8:11 "And I say to you, that many shall come from east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven;

    Mark 3:24 "And if a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.

    Mark 4:11 And He was saying to them, "To you has been given the mystery of the kingdom of God; but those who are outside get everything in parables,

    Mark 4:26 And He was saying, "The kingdom of God is like a man who casts seed upon the soil;

    Mark 4:30 And He said, "How shall we picture the kingdom of God, or by what parable shall we present it?

    Mark 6:23 And he swore to her, "Whatever you ask of me, I will give it to you; up to half of my kingdom."

    Craig, what's your point with those passages? I think most of them support the idea that the kingdom of God means the millennium.
