He was dead to some of my family members several years back when he endorsed O, they never would watch the show again after that.

Don't remember an uproar then, it probably just slipped by them somehow.

Andy grew up in Mt. Airy NC. Some places in his TV show were a play on words of some of the locations near Mt. Airy.

Most notable was probably "Mount Pilot." Pilot Mountain NC was only about 15-20 miles SE of Mt. Airy.

I remember right after he died, I saw several posts in different groups that "Goober didn't have to wait long for Andy to join him at the old fishin' hole." [George Lindsey, who play 'Goober,' had died just 2 months before.]

These "reunion" ideas about heaven go to seed. A comedy heaven of fictional characters doesn't do the gospel any good. And I don't know about Andy Griffith being in the real heaven, with all his anger, profanity, and tyranny.

Then there is Jim Nabors! He needs to repent and believe in Christ.

Same here. To find out what a Leftist and what a bad guy he was in real life really disappointed me.

The story is that his Lonesome Rhodes character was based on Arthur Godfrey. But toward the end of his life, more and more stories came out about Griffith being mean and manipulative, like Lonesome Rhodes.
