McCain Miami Rally Getting Ugly Down Here
    http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/

We're breaking in from Miami, where John McCain just concluded his "Joe the Plumber" rally at Everglades Lumber.

After the rally, we witnessed a near-street riot involving the exiting McCain crowd and two Cuban-American Obama supporters. Tony Garcia, 63, and Raul Sorando, 31, were suddenly surrounded by an angry mob. There is a moment in a crowd when something goes from mere yelling to a feeling of danger, and that's what we witnessed. As photographers and police raced to the scene, the crowd elevated from stable to fast-moving scrum, and the two men were surrounded on all sides as we raced to the circle.

The event maybe lasted a minute, two at the most, before police competently managed to hustle the two away from the scene and out of the danger zone. Only FiveThirtyEight tracked the two men down for comment, a quarter mile down the street.

"People were screaming 'Terrorist!' 'Communist!' 'Socialist!'" Sorando said when we caught up with him. "I had a guy tell me he was gonna kill me."

Asked what had precipitated the event, "We were just chanting 'Obama!' and holding our signs. That was it. And the crowd suddenly got crazy."

Garcia told us that the man who originally had warned the two it was his property when they had first tried to attend the rally with Obama T-shirts was one of the agitators. Coming up just before the scene started getting out of hand, the man whispered in Garcia's ear, "I'm gonna beat you up the next time I see you." Garcia described him for us: "a big stocky man wearing a tweed jacket."

I wonder if this is the same reporter that was the only person who heard someone scream "kill him" at the McCain rally a couple of weeks ago.

People on both sides are making up lies to smear the other.

Most likely, this whole thing is a big lie, just like the girl who lied about an Obama supporter carving a "B" in her face.

    We'll see.

    peace to you:praying:

    These guys are really stupid.

They could be arrested for inciting a riot.

In a like situation at an Obama rally, they most likely would have been killed by all the crazies Obama has attracted.

I'll give them credit, they came together and protected each other by denying the comment was made.

    So, the logic is...

If (and that's a BIG if) this actually happened....it means McCain is evil, because one of the 50 million who will vote for him is a bad guy.

    Riiiiight.

Is that the best you've got??

addendum: Do we really want to be comparing how the felon vote is split? I doubt it would bode well for Obama if the public could see the numbers.

(Note: When I say "felons," I'm not including Congressmen in the mix. I don't wish to be insensitive to the felons.)

Has to be that. It can't be that a reporter would make something up.

What do you want, full scale class warfare? It is funny when people get threatened isn't it? The "Christian" thing to support isn't it?

She was a McCain campaign lie. I don't count cutting up your own face to be as serious as promoting a riot.

It was the secret service agents that investigated and found it to be an unfounded accusation that was made by the reporter.

Are you accusing all the secret service agents, in the crowd for the specific purpose of catching things like this, of being in the tank for McCain and letting a threat against Obama go unchallenged?

It was obvious that the reporter made it up.

As we learn more, this story will be revealed to be either made-up completely, or wildly exaggerated by the Obama supporters and/or the reporters who covered it.

    peace to you:praying:

John McCain's campaign had nothing to do with that woman's story, other than having the misfortune of having her volunteer for them.

She was a mentally disturbed person seeking attention.

    peace to you:praying:

So if none of those things are done its not a crime?

"Assault and battery" is the combination of two violent crimes: assault (the threat of violence) and battery (physical violence).
