Smartest move he ever made.
I don't know about smartest move he's ever made, more like a CYA move because he knew he couldn't win the caucus vote.
Webster needs to be the next speaker of the house.
DNC's "McCarthyism" talking point removed...
Let's say he is and (for the sake of brevity) the Freedom Caucus' agenda passes the House. It hits the Senate and the that chamber's filibuster which the GOP doesn't have the votes to end. But, for the sake of the arguement, the agenda gets through the Senate. The president then vetos the measures. The GOP at this time doen't have the votes to override the veto. What are you going to do?
He intended to run for speaker before the caucus gave their support. His agenda is not the caucus agenda. Whether or not we do the right thing is not dependent on what others do.
The "he" I was referring to is Congressman Webster.
Ok? That was my "he" as well
Anyway the Rhino's in the Republican party are trying to maintain control.
A minor setback for the United States Chamber of Commerce and the Business Roundtable, who bankroll the GOP. As Mark Twain said so long ago, the USA has the best Congress that money can buy.
