McDonald's franchisees are terrified for the future of the company, according to a new survey.

The operators' six-month outlook for McDonald's business is the worst in the 12-year history of the survey, which was conducted by former Janney Capital Markets analyst Mark Kalinowski.

"At least half of the operators in my region are on the verge of collapse," one franchisee wrote in response to the survey. "With minimum wage for fast-food workers potentially increasing to incredibly high levels, we are facing a crisis situation. "

Another said: "The operators sit on a cliff right now. With sales going in the wrong direction, all must be conservative in our decisions. It will take only one bad decision to put any operator down and out."

McDonald's has always been a great merchandiser with a lousy product.

It finally caught up with them.

I wonder if they'll get a tax payer funded government bailout?

Probably not. There's no union involved for Obama to save.

Why the concern? Every time Obama's people speak about the economy, and that includes a handful of board members on this forum, things couldn't be better. So cheer up franchisee's, your concerns and fears are not real. It's just a figment of your imagination.

So they're still in trouble - they have a new CEO on the job since May after the old one ran MickeyD's into the ground. This situation can be turned around, despite the economy and all and they'll just further automate but they need to streamline their menu, stop the advertising to urban blacks only and stabilize their prices. In the meantime, they ought to bring back their stupid Monopoly game. Their food is generally inferior and it's spotty. They used to have very strict standards but now quality varies greatly from store to store.

What makes you think I'm concerned? I design the software that runs the machines that'll eventually replace humans in the workplace.

    Ya snooze ya lose.
