Personally I am of the opinion that the highest form of address in Christianity is "Pastor." All the rest, "Reverend," "Doctor," "Preacher," "Brother," are inferior to the greatest honor God bestows on any man, the call to pastor. For God to place His children into the pastoral watch-care of a mere man is the ultimate calling of a Christian.

I'm with you TC..., otherwise, ain't gonna give a "no-never-mind" to a couple of the other comments.

I identify myself as "Reverend" at various ecumenical events or civic functions when amongst other clergy.

Usually I just go by my first name or "Pastor ________." Even though I have an earned doctorate, I don't care for that label, though some choose to use it.

I don't understand why people have to be so picky about what folks call themselves. Reverend used to be a term of high respect.

I am ordained, but not currently a pastor, so what should I be called?

I believe the choice of what a person wants to be called tells us something about that person.

Now Reverend has a choice. They can be:

    Reverend
    Right Reverend
    Most Reverend
    Very Reverend
    Right Honored Reverend

Oh so many titles. Being an old fashioned traditional Baptist, why not just Jim, or Bob, or George?

Just for the record. I speak only for me. I don't recommend that anyone else do this. On the occasions I have been introduced as "Reverend" I quickly say "NO SIR", I am not to be revered only my LORD is to be revered. I am a sinner saved by amazing unmerited grace. Brother will suit me fine.

And as for the recent Ad Hominem, Righteous1 I forgive you. My response previously was an attempt at humor.

    :tongue3:

WE are also not to cause others to hate us. What kind of witness is that to cause others to stumble? LIke I said, if you don't like the term, fine for you. But let's not knock others who use it, as I am sure they have an opinion too, and it doesn't always meet on the same side of the line in the sand we drew. That is my attempt at humor!

BTW_ If you ignore me, will I ever know? Or better yet, will I really care?

while we are using the "BTW" heres another one.
I believe Jesus, son of Joesph and Mary is the Annointed One of Jehovah. I believe He is 100%man and 100% God. I believe Jesus is Christ.

I believe in the bodily resurrection of a dead Jesus, after three nights and raised on the third day from the tomb. I believe He had a bodily resurrection and was seen by the Apostles and over 500 people before He ascended to sit at the right hand of The Father as 100%man, 100%God. One day, which no man nor angel knows Jesus will return and judge the living and the dead.

SO NOW, Know This. By my above statement of Faith, I cannot be a Pharisee or Sadducee. So try again to label me. There are many that fit.

I prefer to simply be addressed by my name. But then again I do not hold a church position.

Would that be due to my preference or that I do not hold a church office?

And my real name is David.

My attempt was to joke that while you say your prefer to be addressed by your name, you chose to use "quantumfaith" instead of David for your avatar.

    I found that amusing.
