Merchandising the Gospel

    When does selling, bibles, study tools, media, .... become merchandising the gospel?

    Is "merchandising the gospel" sinful?

    What would you define as "merchandising the gospel" as opposed to providing support for an outside of the assembly ministry?

    Are such ministries (outside of direct local assembly control) actually scriptural?

    I’ve often wondered the same. It is amazing how many “studies” are out there…and how many target specific bibles exist. I do think that it is often profit that drives this merchandising.

    I do not know if such ministries are actually scriptural. I question the profit motive…and maybe this could be argued as unscriptural. But ministries outside of direct local assembly control…I don’t know where it could be said that they are unscriptural.

    I will buy bibles but I personally would never sell a bible.

    I wanna know how I can get Bibles for $5 in other countries but they cost me $50+ dollars at Lifeway?

    Hallelujah cause those Lifeway and Family Life prices are ridiculous. It seems as thought they price EVERYTHING much higher than you can get it in say a WalMart or regular bookstore.
