Ohio secretary of state Kenneth Blackwell was the guest speaker at the sanctity of life meeting held in one of our local churches today. It was a great meeting and many area churches were represented in the attendance.
Blackwell made a number of interesting and insightful statements. At one point he was speaking of moral coherance, being conscious of the
correct way to live... not just being able to talk about it using the correct words, but to live it. I was especially glad to hear one of our state leaders say "The first responsibility of government is to protect life".
Blackwell didn't get into defending the pro-life position by defining different stages of infant development or debating at exactly which point a child is capable of taking it's first breath or so many of the other points we hear hashed out, he cut right to the chase and stated that abortion is morally unjustifiable. Amen and amen! One can have all the scientifically accurate information in the world but still lose the main fight if he/she doesn't face the simple fact that when it comes to issues of the sanctity of life, Christian morals should take precedence over all else.
