Mr. Jim, as a feminist, I am also not a fan of "pageants" for women. Those pageants include serial TV pageants such as The Bachelor, Flavor of Love, and all the traditional beauty pageants.

I just don't think that they exalt the true value of a woman and they can be quite harmful.

However, the girl didn't deserve for people to "boo" her while she was on stage. Not one little bit.

Yeah, I agree-guess the Mexican audience was exercising some "free speech"; and maybe they booed because the Miss USA wasn't a babe?

Let's see. The poor girl fell then she was booed. What can we learn from this? Maybe we can learn that (a) they need to put less wax on those stage floors, (b) she needs to watch where/how she walks, (c) the Mexican people in the audience were not thankful enough for the amnesy the American government has given many of Mexico's citizens. For crying out loud how many of THEIR citizens have broken into our country illegally? Yet our government, in an act of amazing stupidity, gives them amnesty and rewards them for their lawlessness by allowing them to stay! I think Mexico should be cheering the USA! They should be thanking our government for the amnesty. Maybe we should start enforcing our border laws? Maybe we should start deporting illegals and throwing those who employee them in jail? After all if Mexico is not thankful for the amnesty why continue it? :BangHead:

You people have it all wrong.

Those were not "boos" you heard.

    They were "undocumented cheers."

What's the deal? Is she a descendant of Sam Houston or Winfield Scott?

I recently spent 8 days in Mexico, along with a host of other Americans. I never saw one shred of anti-American thought or word or anything.

Besides, Fox News is reporting this, and everyone knows they just make up stuff, so this really didn't happen :)

I think it is more simple than all that. She was booed because she fell in a category that reguires "grace" (whatever that means) and still made the final five.

    Not everything is anti-American politically.

This a silly event in a silly, useless contest. No big deal.

MSNBC sheds more light on the situation. She was booed because she is an American - and THAT's why this thread was moved to the politics forum.

The contest is silly, but the booing of our southern neighbors towards Americans is not silly. It makes me almost as angry as all their illegals coming over here en masse (but not quite).

Okay, fair play, you made your point.

However, it is STILL a silly event that does not merit anyone's ire.

Too many Americans are still convinced that everyone should love us because, well, I don't know why.

Some folks need to get out a bit and come to the realisation that the world does not love America - its that simple and its not likely to change.

Roger, I think most Americans who not in a coma are aware of that. It's a bitter pill to swallow, but we do acknowledge it.

I just feel that if non-Americans want to make an anti-American statement, booing a beauty pageant contestant isn't the most effective utilization of their political stance. All the nay-sayers did was to drum up sympathy for the girl.

She was booed because she applied to become a Mexican citizen ahead of all the other Americans who want to become Mexican citizens.

The Mexican audience also got upset when Miss Mexico came on stage dressed as a pinyata and the judges started hitting her with sticks.

As you should know by now, FOX got it right. Not unusual.

Let them stay. We don't need them.

The brutal thug dictator Hugo Chavez gets a standing ovation & fawning from doe-eyed liberals at the U.N. & N.Y.C., and a harmless woman gets booed.

Good will become evil, and evil will become good.

Roger, they don't hate us, they want to be us. That's why they boo. Pure jealousy. I believe there's scripture dealing with that.

Spoken like someone who is not in a coma after all, lol. And that's why they come here.

PS: Shall we go down the list - all these America haters wouldn't have the modern conveniences they have (like automobiles, electricity, etc.) if it wasn't for an American inventing the stuff they use. And if it wasn't for American tourism down in their rag of a country, they would be worse off than they are now. Not to mention all the American $$ buying their drugs they smuggle in here. Need I go on?

    Signed,
Glad to be an un-hyphenated American.

Evidently they don't like an easy citizenship route and immigrants grabbing at their country's benefits. Fair enough.

    American Audience Boos Miss Mexico

Mexican President demands immediate apology and more favorable treatment of Mexican-American guests.

United Nations issues statement condemning audience conduct and deploring the typical ugly Americans.

US Senate Congress issues resolution condemning audience and apologizes to all for shameful behavior.
Several well known puffadders make finger shaking public statements to ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN.

ACLU files law suit on behalf of offended contestant insisting that her civil rights were violated and demands that future beauty contests include all genders.

Attorneys file $10,000,000,000 claim for damages including loss of revenue in civil courts in California and New Jersey.

US President vows to use full resources of federal government to determine whether any hate crime laws were violated and appoints Special Prosecutor.

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton give speeches claiming that Blacks are still oppressed in America and offers to mediate between contestant and detained members of the audience.

Senator Kennedy sponsors legislation making public booing of protected classes a federal offense. The 5,000 page bill contains definitions of various classes. It will be released for public inspection after it has been voted upon.

Tearful members of audience apologize profusely for shameful conduct and enter rehabilitation at newly established facility in California.

Overrated- a GREAT number of inventions came from Europeans - including the automobile. America is a great country, but she is not the be all and end all.

"Rag of a country"? Did you really mean to say that, or are you speaking out of emotion?
