Over 200 Maryland Corrections Officers Arrested… and They Still Have Their Jobs

Baltimore, MD — It was reported last week that over 250 Maryland corrections officers have been arrested since January of 2013 — and well over 200 are still employed by Maryland’s corrections department.

Many of the arrests actually involve on the job corruption, but most of the officers have yet to face any actual consequences from their employers. In one case where officers actually were prosecuted, 24 correctional officers at the Baltimore City Detention Center were convicted in a massive conspiracy case, along with a number of prisoners. That case involved corrections officers smuggling drugs into the prison and becoming very close with the inmates. On more than one occasion, male inmates who ran prison gangs impregnated female prison guards.

NYPD Fires 84 Rounds at Suspect, All but One Miss Their Target

In the early morning hours of September 4th, 27-year-old Jerrol Harris was found rummaging through a car by its owner, Leon Faison, in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bushwick. After Harris shot him in the arm with a stolen .40 caliber pistol, Faison tried to chase him down, and eventually ran into two police officers on the street. After providing a description of Harris, the officers pursued the suspect, and eventually found him several blocks away.

What ensued was embarrassing to say the least. After being spotted by the cops, Harris fired 11 shots at them, hitting an unmarked police car. Now with backup, a total of four cops fired back with 52 bullets, all of which missed Harris as he fled. He eventually ran into two more cops, who fired an additional 32 bullets. One of those bullets struck Harris in the calf, which convinced him to surrender to the NYPD.

U.S. Drops Fleas with Bubonic Plague on North Korea

This happened some 63 years ago, but as the U.S. government has never stopped lying about it, and it’s generally known only outside the United States, I’m going to treat it as news.

Here in our little U.S. bubble we’ve heard of a couple versions of a film called The Manchurian Candidate. We’ve heard of the general concept of “brainwashing” and may even associate it with something evil that the Chinese supposedly did to U.S. prisoners during the Korean War. And I’d be willing to bet that the majority of people who’ve heard of these things have at least a vague sense that they’re bullshit.

If you didn’t know, I’ll break it to you right now: people cannot actually be programed like the Manchurian candidate, which was a work of fiction. There was never the slightest evidence that China or North Korea had done any such thing. And the CIA spent decades trying to do such a thing, and finally gave up.

I’d also be willing to bet that very few people know what it was that the U.S. government promoted the myth of “brainwashing” to cover up.

How the IRS and Department of Homeland Security are Expanding Undercover Work (IRS Agents Can Even Pose as Clergy)

Those guidelines apply only to the law enforcement agencies overseen by the Justice Department. Within the Treasury Department, undercover agents at the I.R.S., for example, appear to have far more latitude than do those at many other agencies. I.R.S. rules say that, with prior approval, “an undercover employee or cooperating private individual may pose as an attorney, physician, clergyman or member of the news media.”

Across the federal government, undercover work has become common enough that undercover agents sometimes find themselves investigating a supposed criminal who turns out to be someone from a different agency, law enforcement officials said. In a few situations, agents have even drawn their weapons on each other before realizing that both worked for the federal government.

National security cited in crackdown on journalism worldwide

The detention of three Vice News journalists in Turkey last month came with all-too-familiar charges of terror-related crimes. Similar allegations were leveled against three Al-Jazeera reporters convicted last year in Egypt of fabricating news to help the banned Muslim Brotherhood. So, too, against Eskinder Nega, an Ethiopian journalist found guilty of terrorism charges in 2012 after publishing a critical piece about the government.

“We’re seeing this more and more, this abuse of national security as an excuse to rein in bad news, basically,” said David Kaye, the U.N.’s special investigator on freedom of speech.

Kaye warned that the growing use of anti-terror legislation against journalists is making any kind of critical reporting impossible in some countries.

Tequila, Painted Pearls, and Prada: How the CIA Helped Produce 'Zero Dark Thirty'

On April 21, 2011, Mark Boal called the CIA to tell them he was going to Afghanistan.

The previous year, the screenwriter had been at a dinner when CIA director Leon Panetta asked Boal to alert the agency if he ever traveled to the country. At the time, Boal was working on a movie called Tora Bora, about the CIA's failure to capture Osama bin Laden in the immediate aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. The title referred to the region in eastern Afghanistan where the US felt it had let bin Laden slip through its fingers during a battle in December 2001.

But less than two weeks after Boal made the call, a team of Navy SEALs raided the al Qaeda leader's compound in Pakistan and killed him. Boal would not be going to Afghanistan after all.

Instead, he stopped writing the script for Tora Bora and began writing a different screenplay about what one lawmaker called "the most classified mission in history" — the killing of bin Laden. That movie, which Boal would work on with director Kathryn Bigelow, would become the 2012 Oscar-winning film Zero Dark Thirty. And the CIA would play a huge role in the creation of the script.

‘28 pages’: Sharyl Attkisson dives into still-classified 9/11 intelligence documents

In a preview of her new Sunday morning news broadcast, five-time Emmy winner and former CBS anchor Sharyl Attkisson will delve into the top-secret pages of Congress’ intelligence report on the 9/11 terrorist attacks, which are still kept under wraps 14 years later.

In the report, Ms. Attkisson speaks with current and former lawmakers and family members of victims of the 9/11 attacks to uncover why the documents, known as the “28 pages” are still undisclosed.

No ordinary American can read the highly classified section of the report, and members of Congress, sworn to secrecy, are only allowed to read the pages under strict supervision.

“We spoke to people off- and on-camera who went as far as they could giving hints and information to me about what’s in them,” Ms. Attkisson told The Washington Times.

Rep. Steven Lynch, Massachusetts Democrat, told Ms. Attkisson the report gives names and identities of individuals who were “complicit” in the terrorist attacks.

There are only two logical conclusions that can be reached about American foreign policy leadership in the 21st century.

1) American leadership is ruthlessly pursuing immoral wars all over the world with the intent of creating outside enemies to focus public anger on, as a conscious diversion away from the criminality happening domestically. As an added bonus, the intelligence-military-industrial complex makes an incredible sum of money. The end result: serfs are distracted with inane nationalistic fervor, while the “elites” earn billions.

2) American leadership is completely and totally inept; being easily manipulated into overseas conflicts by ruthless corporate interests and cunning foreign “rebels” in order to advance their own selfish interests, which are in conflict with the interests of the general public.

I can’t come up with any other logical conclusion. Either way, such people have no business running the affairs of these United States, and their actions are merely increasing instability and violence across the planet. The longer they remain in charge with no accountability, the more dangerous this world will become.

Oliver Stone: Forget ISIS, America Is the Real Threat to the World

Many people thought Oliver Stone’s days of rankling the establishment were over. Many people were wrong. His 2012 book and TV series, The Untold History of the United States, suggests the iconic filmmaker is renewing efforts to challenge the mainstream narrative regarding American exceptionalism, economic imperialism, and our government’s “nefarious involvement” in the Middle East.

To complete the 10-part documentary series and 750 page book, Stone collaborated with World War 2 scholar Peter Kuznick. The controversial filmmaker says that in assessing American history since the 1930s, it’s our involvement in the Middle East that really grabbed his attention.

“We’ve destabilized the entire region, created chaos. And then we blame ISIS for the chaos we have created,” Stone said.

According to Stone, the U.S. government’s destabilizing role actually goes back much further than ISIS. His new series pinpoints moments of American intrusion in the region as far back as the 1930s and follows it all the way to the CIA-backed Iranian coup in 1953, support for Afghanistan-based, anti-Soviet Union militants in the 1980s, George H.W. Bush’s Iraq invasion of 1990, and present-day efforts in Iran, Syria, and other countries.

Obama Mobilizes U.S. Troops To Build Security Wall In Niger – Still Hasn’t Secured Southern Border With Mexico

In 2005 then-Governor of Arizona Janet Napolitano famously said that building a wall on the southern border of the United States to stem the flow of illegal immigration would be ineffective. “You show me a 50-foot wall and I’ll show you a 51-foot ladder at the border. That’s the way the border works,” she argued.

That deep seeded focus on domestic security was apparently enough for President Obama to eventually appoint her as head of the Department of Homeland Security, overseeing the safety of the American people.

An actual wall designed to keep unknown individuals and potential terrorists out of the country, however, was never part of the security infrastructure and was never effectively implemented in the years following.

Because, of course, walls don’t work.

White House-Linked Groups Bankroll New ‘Fact Checking Network’

Project backed by organizations that funded Kiev coup

A new global news fact checking project announced yesterday by the Poynter Institute will be funded by two organizations with close ties to the Obama White House.

The project, which purports to be focused on holding public officials accountable, “is funded by grants from the Omidyar Network and the National Endowment for Democracy, and “it will support and study the work of 64 fact-checking organizations spanning six continents,” according to the Poynter Institute’s website.

The Omidyar Network is headed up by eBay founder Pierre Omidyar. Visitor logs reveal that Omidyar has visited the White House half a dozen times since 2009, with other members of the organization having also visited an additional seven times.

“To put the numbers in perspective, Omidyar’s six visits compare to four visits during the same period by NBCUniversal chief Stephen Burke, two by Fox News boss Roger Ailes, two by MSNBC’s Phil Griffin, one by New York Times owner Arthur O Sulzberger, and one each by Dow Jones’ Robert Thompson, Gannett/USA Today’s Gracia Martore and Omidyar’s fellow tech billionaire turned media owner, Jeff Bezos,” reports Pando.com.

President Obama also personally appointed Omidyar to sit on the President’s Commission on White House Fellowships. Omidyar’s White House visits included conversations focused on the “Omidyar Network’s desire to shape US foreign policy.”

Documents also show how Omidyar, along with the US Agency for International Development (USAID), funded revolutionary groups that were involved in the overthrow of Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych last year.

The National Endowment for Democracy, the other group behind the “fact checking” project,” is considered to be the CIA’s “civilian arm” and has been deeply embroiled in innumerable instigated uprisings, attempted coups and acts of regime change since its creation in 1983, including the contrived 2004 “Orange Revolution” that brought US puppet Viktor Yushchenko to power in Ukraine, as well as the more recent uprising in Kiev.

As Ron Paul explains, the NED is a ‘new kind of CIA’ that funds and promotes “regime change” operations worldwide. The notion that a “fact checking” project bankrolled by the NED is in any way independent or impartial is ludicrous.

“The misnamed National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is nothing more than a costly program that takes US taxpayer funds to promote favored politicians and political parties worldwide. The NED injects “soft money” into the domestic elections of foreign countries in favor of one party or the other,” reports the MassPrivateI blog.

In it, Oliver Stone and his collaborators focuses the wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan during the Bush administration. It presents how many American lives were lost as well as the torture incidents that American soldiers were involved in. As for the conspiracies involved, it also presents the personal motive of Bush was more of a personal vendetta against Saddam Hussein rather than catching the terrorist who are guilty of the September 11 attacks in New York. Added to that, it also tries to portray how the Bush administration tried to manipulate the terror warnings to the Americans to fulfill their political motives.

The Worst Part Is Central Bankers Know Exactly What They Are Doing

The best position for a tyrant or tyrants to be in, at least while consolidating power, is tyranny by proxy. That is to say, the most dangerous tyrants are those the people do not recognize: the tyrants who hide behind scarecrows and puppets and faceless organizations. The worst position for the common citizen to be in is a false sense of security and understanding, operating on the assumption that tyrants do not exist or that potential tyrants are really just greedy fools acting independently from one another.

Sadly, there are a great many people today who hold naïve notions that our sociopolitical dynamic is driven by random chaos, greed and fear. I’m sorry to say that this is simply not so, and anyone who believes such nonsense is doomed to be victimized by the tides of history over and over again.
