If you are pre or post millenial then could you explain your position on the following thought: considering the scriptural idea that Jesus will return to take the believers and those who have fallen asleep, then what will happen in the following 1000 year time period?

1 Thess. 4:13-17, "13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of [the] archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.

What I have found that to be honest with the text and context of the word usage I find it terribly hard with all integrity to fall on one side or the other of the 1000 year period because it depends on which way you go on some words in Revelation.

I am pre-trib, pre-mill, so find no difficulty at all with the verses quoted.

Jesus returns and takes the dead/living of this age to heaven with Him. We will be "forever" with the Lord. Built us a New Jerusalem and I'm looking forward to my condo.

Now in that "forever" will include salient events like:
    • 7 years marriage feast in heaven
    • Return with Christ to the earth
    • 30 days judgment of Israel
    • 45 days judgment of the nations
    • 1000 year reign of Christ from Jerusalem
    • Final rebellion and destruction of the planet
    • New heaven/earth created
    • Jesus handing His kingdom to the Father for an eternal kingdom (I Cor 15:24)
Through all of this I am with the Lord.

Thanks Dr. Bob, I'm Not a Pre-Mill, However...

... I'm actually a Pan-Millenialist! Which means, in the simplest terms, I believe that everything will "pan" out in the end!

To be honest, like you, for reasons of Scriptural interpretation, I am leaning more toward being a Mid-Mill... there are a few things that lead me to lean that way, and in order to get by without having to explain and debate my position, I'll just say, that should the Lord tarry, and we have to go through some of the pain and suffering of the Tribulation, I'll be more ready to accept the goings on in the world without losing faith and falling away.

If your way happens to "pan" out, than Praise God! It's just my prayerful interpretation of the topic.

Still, I appreciated you candidness, and hope others will jump in here and share their heart and beliefs, without the fear of being ridiculed.

Looking toward seeing you in the sky as we "all fly united, one in the King! There's no need to pack, He'll have everything..." That is lyrics from a song my wife and I wrote about the return of Jesus.

    Shalom,

    Pastor Paul :type:

"Then we" [Paul writes of himself and his contemporaries] "who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them"

Keep your eye on that red flag and keep studying.:type:

I was originally taught the dispensational pre-mill position.
I am currently in between a postmill/amill position. Studying the book of Hebrews as well as redemptive history as per Jonathan Edwards -History of Redemption has helped me to a more historic understanding of what the church has always believed in past times.
I encourage everyone to be able to accurately explain each position with scriptural support before holding to any one view in particular.
I understand now that the rapture is the last day. The thousand years is symbolic for the kingdom reign now. Jesus rules as Lord now.
    LK.17:20-21, Acts2:31-39, Hebrews 2:4-16, hebrews 8, hebrews 12:22-24

I believe you are confused. I think you mean "mid-trib," which is a premillennial position.

    You Are So Correct...

.... I made a big error... I meant mid-trib, not mid-mill, and I thank you for pointing this out. As for the Mill, I hope to enjoy the Mill in its fullest sense, 1,000 years.

Again, I stand humble before you, and appreciate your pointing this out before this post got to moving along and reaching a ton of people.

No worries. Personally, I am premill, but I'm not sure where I stand on the "rapture". I waver among pre-trib, pre-wrath, and mid-trib.
