If Satan could, then angels can too.
Is there anything in scripture that proves one way or another?

Many "fortunetellers," "psychics," "clairvoyants," whatever they may call themselves, can be very astute about knowing by fine points of a person's demeanor what their thoughts and hopes are; and that's people they have never seen before. Since Satan is at least as astute as his agents in these ways, and (though not omnipresent) he does have greater observation access to anyone... he is quite close to being a "mind reader," at least if he wants to be and God allows it.

Good point. I have never seen a "psychic", etc, that is genuine. They're all fakes. They are simply gifted at reading peoples' body language to tell them what they want to hear. There's no such thing a osychic powers. No one has them, and anyone who claims such is lying. So if a Christian wants to waste his money on a psychic, feel free, since there is no satanic or demonic power there. The only power present is the power of persuasion and deception. One is a weakness, and the other is a sin.

Not all psychics, astrologers, card readers, etc. are fake. When I did astrology, I felt "guided" through the chart and often knew things about the person they had not told me. I would have what I called "psychic flashes." I was not reading their body language because looking at the person distracted me. Also, I did charts for people I never met. I only had their birth data and name, that's it. I still knew stuff (about the past and present, that is).

There are some "fake" psychics but there are people who seem to have psychic powers, for want of a better term. I prefer to say that their minds are open to information from demonic sources, though this is not what they believe, of course. Most psychics and astrologers and others get into an altered state during a reading which opens the mind to information coming from demonic sources.

Of course, not all the info is correct because I think God does not allow all of it to come through, or He does not allow the demons to know everything. But it is not hard for demons to know things about our past and present.

I had to ask the Lord to take away these "powers" after I was saved.

I want to emphasize that getting information from demonic sources is not the same as Satan being able to read someone's mind.

I am unconvinced by that, Marcia. Rather than what you describe, I think there are unique talents involved in 'reading' people, comprehending situations, and being able to empathize and know fears and hopes. I also think it's likely that not all people who can do this even know it. For instance, some people are "magnetic," or have a knack for others 'gravitating to' them; they make good sales persons, politicians, or entertainers, and/or they get attention from members of the opposite sex and are abundant in friends. But sometimes they are asked a fascimile of the question, "What is your secret?" and they often reply that they don't know-- they don't even realize that little things, expressions, gestures, voice attractiveness, et al, make them popular. So people can have certain abilities that can be latent or unexplainable that transcend the obvious and apparent. It's easy to fall back on lore and legends entrenched for thousands of years in human history and attribute it to the supernatural, but the simple fact is that the natural is often stronger than we think, and that's all the explanation that is required.

When you say you were "not reading their body language because looking at the person distracted you," I think the opposite consequence has to be true. Regardless, you read something or wouldn't think you were "distracted." As for those of whom you only knew their name and "birth data," even that can be a key to some qualities. A name is often a model to live up to, be it a family member or a noted person, or an ideal, and people react to what a person's name is [suppose John Wayne had kept the name Marion Morrison-- would his popularity have been as great?] As for birth data-- well, come on, they must already believe something significant about their own birth data, or they would not be involved in the kind of activity of seeking further about it. The basics were already in place, and they were "open" to new 'info,' and if they really took it seriously any projections could go a long way toward self-fulfillment simply by belief therein.

Right now, I don't have time to lecture further on this  .

Alcott, I can't believe you would say I could get info just from a person's name! That is impossible. How could I say enough about someone with just their name?

If you don't want to believe what I did as a profession for over 8 yrs. and all the other paranormal stuff I experienced for 20 yrs. fine, but it happened.

I know what went on when I did those readings and when I did other stuff. Why deny that demons give info to people?

When I say I was "distracted," I meant from looking at the chart. I was reading their astrological chart, which is the position of planets at birth. If you think that can give info on a person's life, then you would be a good candidate for astrology.

You can't "say enough about someone" with just their names. If you do have a person's name and 'birth data,' what all do you have to go on? If they are 'plain' John or Mary, Linda or James, they have not been given any special attention for those names. But if the names are Gigi or Veronica, Leonardo or Pierre, to anyone who knows nothing about them other than their names, they are automatically not presumed to be farm kids from the midlands.

As to whether their birth data really tells you anything... the fact that they are seeking more info on what their birth data 'mean' tells you that they give credence to such tellings, and that's already quite a bit. They would already have read about what their "sign" is supposed to mean, and they thus attributed those qualities to themselves. If they do give credence to anything as stupid and useless as the positions of the planets at their birth, they are easily vulnerable, easily cheated, and whatever they are told by a "seer" they will take steps to make it happen. In that way they will not be unlike William the Conqueror and his Norman forces, who saw Halley'e Comet before they went to battle to take England in 1066. A comet was thought to mean the downfall of a kingdom, so they were inspired by what they thought was a sign of their victory, so they fought like victors and won.

But back to how little info you may have on a person... was that little info you did have in their own writing? That's a significant question, which I know from personal experience. I can tell a lot about a person I don't know by viewing a sample of his/her handwriting. This is not at all supernatural, but just a matter of recognizing characteristics.

Successful psychic readers know how to make worthless conditions worthwhile to the stupid.

Demons are almost everywhere, they can communicate, I do not see why it is beyond belief for the demons to communicate with people who open themselves up to that kind of influence.

That was it. The chart was computed from their birth data. I knew nothing else. It's called astrology. I have theories as to why it seems to work: coincidence, the desire of the client to believe, the client applying information to specifics in their life, demonic sources for the astrologer. I think it is a combination of all of these for astrologers, psychics, tarot card readers, etc. I was not in a storefront with a sign out front -- I didn't even have to advertise. I got all my business from clients telling their friends and being repeat clients, and having me do relationship charts, charts for children, etc. I was seriously into this and I was not trying to con anyone.

Yes, they were prone to believe, although twice I did charts for men who did not believe in astrology at all but during the reading were amazed that I knew so much about them. For both of these men, the chart reading was a gift, so they did not choose to have it done on their own.

Never. I got the info by phone usually. The person would call and give me their birthdate and time; we would make an appt. and that was it. In fact, I told them not to tell me anything else. Or they would give me the birth data for their friend, sister, mother, whatever, in another city or state and I would do that chart as a gift without ever seeing the person or talking to them. I am not lying, Alcott, I did not try to get "clues" about the person from anything other than the chart. Please do not assume I was picking up info somehow from their writing, name, whatever -- I was not. This is how it was for my astrologer friends as well. We believed in astrology as a spiritual tool and it was part of our new age worldview.

If you want to understand more, read this article I wrote on it. It's a Profile on astrology for Watchman Fellowship I wrote several years ago:
