Brazil would be neat. Ireland would be neat(I might be going there!) I'd like to go to Isreal, well to sight see really. Austraila would be good, (I am offered a job there after college to teach in one of our missionaires christian school.) somewhere that spake French because I am pretty good at the language. I would love to be in Sri Lanka right now to help those poor little children. And tell them about Jesus.

What are your thoughts of combining a individual couple's mission trip with their honeymoon?

Would any of you ever want to do that?

But you probably will ONE of these days!

Would you even have the nerve to suggest this to your "-to-be"?

Would this be a "valid test" to see how committed either or both are committed to missions?

I have no answers for these questions, just some things I'm tossing out to my friends.

    Nothing more.....nothing less

    Mission trips are awesome!

My church goes on mission trips and we have a missions team. I have got the opportunity to go on a lot of them.

    Honeymoon mission trips...hmmm...

not sure how I would feel about that. I would probably want to spend my honeymoon doing other stuff, and I'm a future missionary.

My wife and I got to go on a mission trip to Mexico back in '97.

It was awesome. We went to Colima, which has a population of 300,000-500,000. We got to help the only non-Catholic church (seriously) by holding a lay revival and VBS.

The VBS was a huge success! We held it in the courtyard. People walking by would see the kids having a great time, and would come in to see what was up. By the end of the evening, there would be about fifty adults there who wandered in!

Where would I love to go? Ireland, maybe? I could visit C4K while I was there!

    In Christ,
    Trotter

I most definately would combine my honeymoon with a mission trip. Because anywhere you would go in the world they need the Lord. Well this is kind of different but I once met a pastor's wife and we were talking and I asked her what was the thing that told her that she wanted to marry her husband, and she told me that when she was younger she was the daughter of a pastor, and her church was near a bible college, and they got students in all the time to preach well one Sunday this man came to her church. And preached and her father liked him so much he invited him to go out to dinner with them. And while they were at the restrant the man witnessed to the waitress, and by the time they left the restruant that day he had won that woman to Christ and she started attending their church. From then on she knew that he was a man she could love. And that man became her husband. Because he was not ashamed to spread the gospel.

I'm not ashamed to share, neither is my "hopeful boyfriend" (not my boyfriend, but I'm hopeful) but when I get married, I don't want to go on "mission" for my honeymoon. Now, I'm thinking "mission trip" like with a team from church and all. Definitely not a honeymoon trip for me. However, if the opportunity arises for me to be able to share Jesus with someone while on my honeymoon, I'll seize the opportunity and share.

Maybe a little clarification is due on my honeymoon/mission trip question.

I wasn't referring to a mission trip w/ a GROUP....just you and XXX maybe staying in a nearby hotel/motel/whatever, but spending at least part of that time with some nearby missionary doing whatever.

    Again, it's just a thought.

Ok..that would be more possible. All I could think was going on my honeymoon and 20 people from my church (with my grandparents included) coming along. That sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen. I've already decided that I'm going to tell everyone that we're going somewhere and then head off in the opposite direction. (You'd have to know my family's tendencies for playing practical jokes)

If you are interested in an overseas mission trip, check out International Worldchangers. You can find them at http://www.SBC.net - click on the international mission board link. They have one and two week mission trips over the summer for high school and college age kids and are fairly reasonably priced - $1,000 or so including air fare.
