I won't argue about the condition of our priorities in this unashamedly sinful world, but I don't think this harmless thread is an indication of it. Just my $.02.

    Humblesmith, I liked your post.

Jesus told His disciples to "come ye apart and rest a while." Someone has said we have to come apart and rest a while or simply come apart.

A bit of humor in our sin sick world is needed. I would put this pos tin that catergory.

I fully understand the "point" trying to be made. The only thing facial hair determines is that one is able to grow facial hair.

You people keep building mountains out of molehills,er, goatees out of razor stubble. :D

As a matter of fact, there are now 4 more men that have grown goatees since my last post on this subject, why, one is even deaf. So to think he listens to CCM is rather silly! [IMG] (not making fun of his hearing loss, Luke is a very good friend of mine).

I will still say that the association is relevent to those with goatees listening to CCM, else explain why so many CCM musicians have them??? ;)

Because it is no different than the fact that the length of hair and styles of cuts change with time. This time of so many having facial hair will pass just like all other matters of preference.

</font>[/QUOTE]So then the goatee is nothing more than a wave to toss men about to and fro as the tempest? Hmmmmmm? Thank you for exposing the instability trait of men. Something to think about considering the approval of goatees.

Not any more or less than a full beard, moustache only, or being clean shaven.

It's just a fad, vanity. Some boys try things like this to prove they are old enough to grow hair on their face. I don't have any problem with it. Would I let one of these guys preach in my pulpit? As long as he is Independent Fundamental separated and Baptist I guess I could.

Well Salamander if you are going to so loosely use Scripture that applies to doctrine not hair styles, I am sure you will apply the same to the car you drive, the fact that you use the telephone and ultimately that you are on a computer. You are tossed to and fro with the latest gadget of men.

Seriously though you have got to be kidding trying to use the Word of God as it deals with those who are unstable in their doctine for whether a man chooses to wear facial hair. I for one would hate to be associated with your narrow, legalistic, and improper understanding. This all falls under the category of "get real".

    Salamander -

I don't always wear a tie either... gosh, I guess my preference for attire and grooming differs from others. Glad no one questions my salvation or anything like that.

Right, because we all know that nobody can preach who has facial hair or doesn't wear a tie.

Jesus didn't wear a tie, and if he adhered to Jewish custom, he had facial hair.

A lot of it comes down to culture does it not?

If I had a handle-bar moustache then that would be a hinderance when I tried to preach. People would be so distracted by the moustache it would distract from the message. However, if I lived in, let's say, Tennessee, then it would be fine.

And somebody explain the RELATIVITY TO GOATS PLEASE?

I'd much rather grow a sheepish beard than something relating to a goat! [IMG] [IMG]

Goatees, beards or mustaches are not unscriptural at all. Heaven forbid, if Charles Spurgeon were to minister to your church? Being "clean shaven" is a modern invention of the last 100 years. Before this time all men had some whiskers or growth on their face. And ALL the ladies wore dresses to, instead of PANTS to church. It's because of modern times that dress is different, And lest I forget, our own Lord had a beard as well.
