So now I'm not supposed to go swimming with my family. Geez, I learn SOOOO much here.....

We're talking short pants here, not speedos.
If I choose to wear a pair of shorts and go to town, that's my choice (although my legs might scare children and small animals). I see nothing immodest about it.

I see nothing wrong with swimming in "mixed company" either. My church used to have youth trips to the shore and we would all swim in the ocean together - boys, girls, leaders.

SK, I of know churches where fornication and adultery is tolerated and never spoken out against, but does that make it right. Please exam it from God's point of view.

Good grief, Charlie Brown. The great pumkin has spoken. Will this be a regular event? AHHHHHHHHHHHHhhh I can't stand it, says Lucy.

I wait in the pumkin patch every year, and it has never spoen to me, Says Charlie Brown. Oh well, there is always next year.

I love Peanuts. It taught so many moral values in the funnies, and they all wore short trousers and wee skirts too, except the lads, of course.

Modest, yes; a nuns frock, NO! We do live in the 21st century. Thisgs they are a changin' my favourite Bob Dylon song.

An attractive lady need not be a sexual attraction, unless one is so inclined to see that. I see an attractive lady and see her purity. I see an attractive man, and I see his respect. God is attractive, and I was created in the image of God to be attractive for Him. I hope the ladies feel the same and enjoy being in the Lord's company at all times.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Jim, I think you have an incredibly healthy outlook on the issue. Thanks for presenting it so clearly, as you so often do.

    Cheers. [IMG]

Jim, You watch WAY TO MUCH PEANUTS.

Jim said,"Modest, yes; a nuns frock, NO! We do live in the 21st century. Thisgs they are a changin' my favourite Bob Dylon song."

God said, Hbr 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Jim logic is that if society says it is ok, then just do it. Jim is wrong!

Keep your eyes to the ground, ladies!

I have an English reading primer in my library. It makes reading English so much easier, and understanding wot a bloke actually says, much clearer.

No, God never commanded to do that.

TIMES They are a Changing by Bob DYLAN

    Come gather 'round people
    Wherever you roam
    And admit that the waters
    Around you have grown
    And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
    If your time to you
    Is worth savin'
    Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

    Come writers and critics
    Who prophesize with your pen
    And keep your eyes wide
    The chance won't come again
    And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
    And there's no tellin' who
    That it's namin'.
    For the loser now
    Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

    Come senators, congressmen
    Please heed the call
    Don't stand in the doorway
    Don't block up the hall
    For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
    There's a battle outside
    And it is ragin'.
    It'll soon shake your windows
    And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.

    Come mothers and fathers
    Throughout the land
    And don't criticize
    What you can't understand
    Your sons and your daughters
    Are beyond your command
    Your old road is
    Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.

    The line it is drawn
    The curse it is cast
    The slow one now
    Will later be fast
    As the present now
    Will later be past
    The order is
    Rapidly fadin'.
    And the first one now
    Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.

    Bob Dylan,
Didn't he also sing, "Everybody Must Get Stoned?" Since when is Bob Dylan the authority on how Christians are to behave?

    HomeBound,
I think those are good guidelines.

    Jailminister,
That is true there are churches that allow homosexuals to recognize their abominations and fornicators and adulterers to go unnoticed. Following the Scripture is always the right thing to do.

Do you know how many good Christian girls marched down the wedding aisle to the "Wedding March"? Did you know that the "Wedding March" is a part of the Wagner's opera Lohengrin? Did you know that Wagner's operas included pagan stories and this particular part was around a prostitute? He has been used in the past, and good Christian ladies will use it in the future.

Bob Dylan is a popular singer in the world. He makes no pretense to be a Christian, and I made no pretense that he was.

Cheers, enjoy life, God not only intended us to be merry, but he ordered us to have a cheerful heart.

I've laughed along with Bob Dylan's songs for many years, Jim.

Headcovered Lady, the song is "Rainy Day Women 12 & 35". I like it. I also never took it for 'drug use' but how people treat other people....

This has been the most entertaining thread I have read on here. What with "respectable bikinis" and "unkempt toes", and shorts and tank tops are Ok but not in church. Modesty has nothing to do with where you are (in public). Appropriateness might matter where you are but, modesty is the same whereever you are. If you are dressed in a manner that is likely to elicit immoral thoughts in those present then you are immodest. If you care about dressing in a manner that will do this then you will dress accordingly. If you don't care then you will dress accordingly. Just don't try to justify yourself by saying it is hot, or everyone else is, or, it's all in THEIR minds.

BTW, (This is free of charge) it is just as arrogant to draw attention to yourself by over dressing as it is immodest to underdress. Dress so that you don't draw negative attention to yourself.

    Rainy Day Women #12 & 35
    Bob Dylan

    Well, they'll stone you
when you're trying to be so good
They'll stone you just like they said they would
They'll stone you when you're trying to go home
Then they'll stone you when you're there all alone
But I would not feel so all alone
    Everybody must get stoned

    Well, they'll stone you
when you're walking on the street
    They'll stone you
when you're trying to keep your seat
They'll stone you when you're walking on the floor
    They'll stone you
when you're walking through the door
But I would not feel so all alone
    Everybody must get stoned

They'll stone you when you're at the breakfast table
They'll stone you when you are 'ung and able
They'll stone you when you're trying to make a buck
They'll stone you and then they'll say good luck
Hey, but I would not feel so all alone
    Everybody must get stoned

Well, they'll stone you and say that it's the end
    Then they'll stone you
and then they'll come back again
They'll stone you when you're riding in your car
They'll stone you when you're playing your guitar
Yes, but I would not feel so all alone
    Everybody must get stoned

Well, they'll stone you when you are all alone
They'll stone you when you are walking home
They'll stone you and then say they are brave
    They'll stone you
when you're set down in your grave
But I would not feel so alone
    Everybody must get stoned

Nothing here about drug use. It's about being persecuted.
