Where do you believe the modesty line should be for female Christians?

    Very Strict
Bottom – Ankle length skirt or dress
    Top – Loose, no cleavage
    Public Bathing - None

    Strict
Bottom – Knee length skirt or dress
    Top – Loose, light cleavage
Public Bathing – Allowed but not mixed gender

    Moderate
Bottom – Loose pants, knee length shorts
    Top – T-shirts, moderate cleavage
Public Bathing – Mixed with swim trunks and covered top

    Indulgent
Bottom – Tight and/or low riding pants, thigh showing shorts
    Top – Tight-T-shirt, abundant cleavage
Public Bathing – Mixed with one piece bikini

    Very Indulgent
    Anything culture defines as acceptable/legal.

    Not voting...
the categories don't go together well...
what's with putting "moderate cleavage" with loose pants? Those conflict IMO...

I don't understand how you came to the conclusions you did to group the clothing together...

not voting either... although I do wonder how you can have a one piece bikini?

I remember the first IFB church I ever went to. They were talking about mixed bathing. I was trying to act like I knew what was going on but thought "Of course, people shouldn't be taking baths together." :tongue3:

Then I thought, this is tennessee, they must mean blacks and whites swimnming together, which freaked me out coming from Washington DC

Then I realized what they were talking about

I don't do knee length shorts. I do shorter shorts.

That's an error, should read bathing suit rather than bikini.

I voted before I read the definitions.......don't know what I was thinking.

but I agree, the categories don't necessarily go together well.

Can't vote either. i think pants are ok, loose, not skin tight, dresses or skirts at least knee length, loose shirts, or any kind, not necessarliy tee shirts, but no cleeveage please, upper chest just below the neck is ok, no need for turtle necks.
I would never wear a bathing suit of any kind, and I do not bath i public lol

Yeah, the categories seem a little fixed for a certain agenda.

I hope Rufus 1611 won't too much mind another reply to this thread!

I couldn't really fit myself neatly into any of the categories either. I think there's no good reason for skirts/dresses to come up above the knee, so I would say slightly below the knee to ankle length.

As for tops, I'll gladly say no cleavage, loose fitting. (By the way, there is something a woman can buy called a 'modesty panel' which is a piece of fabric that can be pinned/sewn to the inside of a dress/blouse if the v-shaped neckline is too 'plunging'.)

Swimming?? Well, to be honest I never gave much thought about it, since I don't come out of an IFB background and besides here in Colorado we don't have any beaches anyway! I'd prefer to err on the side of caution and modesty.

Pants on women? Well again, since I don't come out of an IFB background I don't have a no-pants-on-women viewpoint. I think there are a few situations where pants can be more modest than a skirt/dress (gardening, yard work, camping) but I definitely think a woman looks more ladylike in a skirt or dress and I think we've moved too far away from that.
