We do not elect a president to disseminate his theological beliefs. Do I wish he were a Christian? Yes. Does his Mormonism disqualify him from office? No.

We will not be electing someone to be pastor-in-chief of the church in these United States in November 2008.

Thats a double strike against Romney. He is a Mormon and is endorsed by Bob Jones.

We are not electing a theologian in chief. That said, they should not try to be a theologian in chief, either. That's why I'm critical of Ron Paul when he called the Constitution "divinely inspired." That's also why I'm critical of Bush when he praises Islam. These guys can't get simple economics right. So why even attempt to be theologians?

If you are including Ron Paul in "these guys", I am not aware of an substantive flaw in Ron Paul's stances on economics.

Sn : Make sure you distinguish between Bob Jones the 3rd and BJU . BJU is not endorsing any single candidate . The University distanced itself ( or at least qualified the remarks ) of the chancellor .

Stephen Jones is the President of BJU .
