I had a question about that poll. Wasn't Abraham Lincoln a Republican? That's why the southern states were predominantly Democrat after the Civil War on up till the middle part of the 1900's.

He became President at noon today. What are you judging him on? His Inaugural speech? I thought it was great BTW.

It was meant to be facetious because apparently there are people who think he was…as does 1 person on the Baptist Board (or someone having an amusing time anyway).

I'm sorry. I didn't realize it was supposed to be facetious. I just though it was an honest mistake.

I can usually see your point of view, even if we disagree. Here I don't understand your thoughts at all.

JC thinks if Obama says something it should be inscribed on granite, replicated many times and mounted in every city park with suitable ceremony.

"In Obama we trust" may replace "In God we trust" on our money.

There is already a move underway in Congress to repeal the 22nd Amendment. To make way for his coronation, I suppose.

What did you think of his "we will defeat you" statement? I've mentioned this on 2 other threads but no one has responded. Didn't Bush get bashed for making "warlike" statements like this?

Obama is not a pacifist. It seems no Obama admirer will address this.

It was great if you agree that government is the solution to everything that will arise.. That, to me, was Obama's main thrust.... Contrast that with Reagan's constantly building up the individual freedom and responsibility speeches.

I see things differently. Reagan was a mediocre president at best. I hope that President Obama ends up being much better than Reagan.

Someone mentioned why President Obama is associated with FDR and Lincoln? It's because they are two of our greatest presidents!

You know what? I also hope Barak Obama becomes a better president than Ronald Reagan. In order for him to do that he will need to make some serious changes to the way he is planning to run things. I would like to see Obama to cause Communism to collapse in China. If he could do that, I would think that he would be on his way to becoming as good as or better than Reagan. After all, it was the arms race that caused the Communist Party in the Soviet Union to collapse.

The next thing he would need to do is make abortion illegal, after that have marraige defined as being between a man & a woman, & then I might actually consider voting for him in 2012.

Also, to to dispute your point on two of the greatest presidents, Franklin D. Roosevelt (in my opinion) was our second worst president (Bill Clinton was the worst). He may have been elected for four terms, but he was known for expanding the federal government's power to the point where it was too intrusive into our everyday lives. For example: He created the IRS. At that time it was said to have been temporary. but we now know that is wrong. The other problem I had with him is that he was known for having Communists in his cabinet. So I'll ask, just because he was popular with the people, does that mean he was a great president?

Evidently, Mr. Obama knows very little about Abraham Lincoln and really should read up on American history.

From a column by Chuck Norris:

    http://townhall.com/columnists/ChuckNorris/2009/01/20/lincolns_view_of_obamas_inauguration?page=2

It is really a good column and does point out a few similarities. But it is also sad to note that Abraham Lincoln was wrong in a lot of areas, one of them being his trampling of the Constitution. This one will do likewise, no doubt.

I didn't see in the article where Lincoln trampled over the constitution. Can you point that part out or where you speaking of other times not in the article?

It is no secret Lincoln had no intention of freeing the slaves. At best, he hoped to keep slavery from spreading but his real aim was the keep the union from dividing which was his real legacy. I still believe the freeing of the slaves was divine. They prayed and like Israel, the Lord heard their prayer and sent a deliverer.

Actually, the roots of the IRS goes back to Abraham Lincoln, but the modern day income tax was started by Woodrow Wilson in 1913.
