I would say that Jesus isn't OK with killing, period.

And why would you say this ? His own words say he's bringing a sword to Earth.

I'm sure Jesus takes no pleasure in any death. However, I think He would hold me responsible for not protecting my family, nor serving to protect my country from enemies both foreign and domestic. And, for those serving in law enforcement, who carry guns, they too are responsible and will be held responsible to protect the public, and if necessary, to use deadly force if necessary.

To say he takes no pleasure in death may be true. But to say he never approves of killing is not biblical.

    Sure they did. They said:

    1. "Love one another"
    2. "Fathers, bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord," (not flush them down the garbage disposal)
    3. "Bear children . . ." (not kill them before they're born)
And the list goes on . . . Oh, wait! You disagree that God calls an unborn child a child. I would refer you to post #13.

Law enforcement and armies are a part of the worldly kingdom of America. Yes, we need them but they have nothing to do with Christianity.

So Altide, first thank you for not answering my first question to you. I guess you don't believe that life begins in the womb which speaks a lot about your character and where you actually stand. Secondly, I have another question. Are you suggesting that Christians should not serve in the military or law enforcement? After all, they may be required to kill another human being.

I do not interpret it, I read it and apply it to my life. It is very true that Jesus takes all sin to a new level when he talks about to God, murder is the same as being angry with your brother in your heart, or adultry is the same as lusting for a woman in your heart. That has nothing to do with the point here.

The point is that murder from a physical standpoint does not mean killing never happens. This is where common sense and context from Scripture enters. For example, the Bible is quite clear life starts at conception, and this is the type of life that is murder. Another example on the other side would be capital punishment or defending a family. Speaking of that, plenty of people have died to protect your freedom to write your so far ludicrous posts. So how long did you serve for others freedom?

The Bible is not clear that life begins at conception. Theologians have debated this concept for years, and accepted theologians have developed three ideas about when life begins, and that growth inside a woman becomes a person.

Capital punishment is another debatable topic. If man were perfect, it might have worked, but he isn't and many a person has died even though innocent.........including many burned alive at the stake, stoned or killed by numerous means, even in the name of Christ.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    :tear: Sad... Sad indeed... :tear:

Just because "theologians" discuss something, it is sad that you continue to flaunt your messed up views on a board that has said your statement is against the rules....

    Sad.

A very odd statement for a Calvinist, who believes that God knew you before you were born.
