Ok this is started from another thread that was kinda getting off topic.
So I think most of us have heard stories of Muslims having some kind of dream about Jesus and then being saved.
So my question is, are these legitimate stories. Does God use Dreams to spread the Gospel. Does this affect the Canon of Scripture.

Note To mods if this is in the wrong spot feel free to move it :)

This dream's conversion is abiblical imo. God speaks to us through His word. Everything He wants to reveal about Himself to us is confined to those 66 books. God saves His people one at a time via the proclaimed gospel of Jesus Christ....

I think in dreams our minds may be able to reason in different ways. I see no reason that the Holy Spirit could not influence us while we dream, although I believe our response must be fully conscious. Wouldn't you think it possible that the seeds planted from the Word may be at work in our state of mind while we dream? I don't see how the influence of dreams would necessarily negatively affect the "Canon of Scripture".

Your idea makes since but the claim that I have seen is that they have never heard the Gospel or read any of the Bible and then had a dream about Jesus.

Let us not forget the bogus trinity assailing the earth during the Great Trib.

:1_grouphug: Pray for each of us.

I wondered if that might be the case after I posted. I don't know but I've long suspected that if a person responds to the influences of Holy Spirit drawing of all men, Romans 1:20, and seeks the truth, and loves whatever truth is revealed to them that God would bring them the Gospel one way or another.

They aver God saves them through dreams. That they have been saved w/o any gospel message whatsoever...

Actually what Steaver suggested was that there are people he knows who claim that the gospel was delivered through dreams and or visions. He never said the gospel was not delivered.

Do you agree with this claim? Is it supported via the bible?

No, and I have already made this clear directly to you on several occasions. Of course you already knew that. The sin you are committing is that you are making inaccurate statements about what he said. This intentional misrepresentation is not necessary. You need to back up and deal with him in clarity and accuracy.

Then why is my accusation wrong on that other thread?

Good grief you have yourself so twisted around you are lost. You need to go back and reread his original claim, break it down, and show his error piece by piece.

I was talking to a missionary back in October who works in countries where spreading the Gospel is forbidden. But he and a team go in and show a certain film about a certain Savior (if you get my drift) and they have had an incredible experience that they just cannot explain. When they went to play the film in one village, in the first 5 minutes or so, there was a huge uproar and people were yelling at the screen and so disruptive that they decided to stop the film to see what was going on. They had a translator come to them and translate what they were saying. The people said that they had seen him - and they pointed to the man who was playing Jesus. They said that they saw him in the sky the week before - the entire tribe saw him! Who was he? they wanted to know. They were able to preach the Gospel and most of the village was saved that day and they have had a vibrant ministry there - even where the Gospel is forbidden. God gets His Word out in ways that we can't even imagine and He uses us to bring the Gospel to the people.

I don't doubt that Muslims have had dreams of Christ. They still need to hear the Gospel but they know the truth when they hear it. :)

The thing I am wondering about is this...no one knows what Christ looks like. All we have seen of Him were pictures of Him as others posed and were painted. Then the guys they pick out to play Him in movies look eerily akin to the pictures we see of Him painted centuries ago.

    I am iffy on this.....

In the Last Supper, the guy Da Vinci used to depict Jesus was the same guy he used to depict Judas Iscariot....is this true?

I've read both true and untrue...

I'm wondering how one manages to have a dream about Jesus if they've supposedly never heard of Him?

I have real doubts about your story here. First, Muslims believe in a totally different God than the God of the Bible. Second, the person who plays the role of Jesus in the film is not Jesus and if that is the person they say they actually saw in the sky they certainly did not see Jesus as the two are not one and the same and so their view of Christ is no better than their view of God. Third, I was in Vietnam and I know exactly how third world countries think about Christianity. They view being an American as being a Christian and they all want to be an American and that is precisely why we have multitudes flooding our southern border and easy believism makes this into a field day getting decisions for Christ in vast numbers. Sorry, but I am no believer in such stories.

I stated pretty much the same thing in post #14. None of us know what Jesus looks like....

The church I attend follows a cessationalist doctrine concerning God's gifts of tongues, healings, revelations etc.

I was interviewed by my church leadership years ago and asked about my position on this topic.

I said I was a "soft cessationalist". I do not believe that the tongues movement in America is biblically based. Many who claim they speak in tongues don't follow the NT writings concerning its use. I know God heals people but those who claim to be gifted healers are bogus - let them heal a missing limb and I'd rethink my position.

But I won't limit God's ability to use his extraordinary, miraculous power to reach those to whom the gospel message cannot reach.

I too have heard of the godly dreams some Muslim's have. I've heard of wonders in far corners of the world where Christian's rarely tread.
I know that God loves mankind so much that he gave his Son to die for us.
I can't imagine that he would withhold his message from someone who seeks him.

This doesn't mean we should limit our missionary activities. But sometimes, like the instance in the book of Acts with Cornelius, God directs the unsaved to others people who can share the good news God has proclaimed for all mankind to be saved.

My answer satisfied the questions of those that asked despite being unconventional.

    Rob

I understand your concerns and the team was sure to speak of the fact that this actor was not Jesus nor does Jesus really look like him. This was actually an unreached people group and the whole thing really shocked the team who are well trained by this organization in evangelism and ministry. They just reported the event and just how open to the gospel these people were. They had never even seen a movie, no less the technology that was brought in to show the film (inflatable screen, generator, etc.). This isn't a far fetched urban legend but one that was seen firsthand by this man's team.
