    David,

The UK remains one of the very few in the UN that remains a stanch friend of the US...

But, I would say that about 90 to 95 percent of the UN members think the US is a captialist war monger that needs to be broken up, pillaged and it's wealth distrubuted to the rest of the world...

The US is the primary target, IMHO. But, to be fair if they suceed in castrating the US other democarcies will not be far behind.

Your own UK is all but over run with muslim extrememist and PC correctness.

And, your citizens can't even defend themselves when the muslim uprising occurs...

For now, at least, Americans can still defend themselves.

After Matt's elaboration I, now, understand where he was coming from...

But, there's another reason we don't drive 70 in a 30 zone... God's natural Laws tend to prevent a "good" outcome, too. :)

I suppose with all this assault on what we Americans view as our Constitutional Freedoms... (By our own government) I am a bit "sensitive" when someone starts talking without elaboration...

Of course, it wouldn't hurt if I started taking note of where people say they are from, too?

We're scarcely 'overrun' with Muslim extremists, unless you read the Daily Mail, in which case Muslim extremists+swine flu+snow=collapse in real estate prices. Sure, we have a few nutters who would like to live under sharia law, to whom I say, "push off to Saudi, then" but, by and large, they don't present much of a problem.

I am afraid that picture doesn't match the UK where I live. Perhaps there is another UK somewhere!! Yes, there are some Muslim extremists here, but we are not "all but overrun" with them. And yes, there is some Political Correctness nonsense. But as I understand it, Political Correctness is not unique to the UK.

Not sure what you mean about us not being able to defend ourselves when "the muslim uprising" takes place.

    David,

How hard is it to get a Hand Gun license in the UK...

We have a saying, "When Seconds Count, The Police are Minutes Away".

We've already had a couple home invasions here in Albany and it was all over by the time the Police arrived.

Though, with the size/length of Bread Knife I have I could probably take on anyone but a gunman.

Of course we also have a saying that when you ban guns, only the criminals, whether in government or not, will have them.

It's just hard for me to wrap my mind around such differences.

I don't have a hand gun and have never wanted one. Neither do the local police here. I have never had the need to defend myself or my property with a gun and don't feel remotely threatened by not having a gun.

Some areas of the UK have been virtually taken over by foreign groups. East London is one such area. The markets are all Indian, Pakistani and Jamaican. Most of both Wife and my families have moved out of Cockney London.

The thing is that the few Muslims that have moved into England are very vocal, and this makes them seem larger than they actually are. The English residents are for the most part are non-vocal about these political things. Just live their lives out where they are.

We don't feel at home in Plaistow anymore, so we visit Scotland....Man, do they speak funny.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Forced love may not work but people sleeping in alleys and eating out of dumpsters is a public health issue. I suppose being unemployed could be declared a capitol crime against public health.

Entering the workforce after an extended layoff is difficult. I propose a "transition period."

Provide jobs for the unemployed, but let them be union jobs. That way, there's no chance of them working too hard. It provides an easy transition into real employment.

Furthermore, those with criminal records will fit right in working for union bosses. Just like old times.

Very few people own firearms in the UK. I have never owned a firearm, so I don't know how hard is it to get a Hand Gun license here.

But it would seem that gun crime here is at a much, much lower level than in the USA. For example, the web site http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_mur_wit_fir_percap-crime-murders-firearms-per-capita says that the United States has 0.0279271 murders with firearms per 1,000 people. The UK has 0.00102579 per 1,000 people. The UK figure is merely 3.7% of the US rate.

As Paul Harvey would say, "and now the rest of the Story". What is the murder rate with any weapon in the UK vs the USA?

We are straying off topic... :D

But, statistics are a very slippery slope as it all depends on how the numbers are crunched and how they are presented.

I don't know how accurate the figures are, but according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate in 2009 the USA had 5.0 murders per 100,000 people, and the UK had 1.28 per 100,000

SpiritualMadMan: Sorry you think this is off-topic. I would just remind you that it was you who brought up the matter of firearfms control in the UK.

    True Enough...

But, it is a subject I am extremely vocal about and it would probably have been better not to have brought it up.

Especially, while forgetting the broad spectrum of "attendees" on this forum.
