In a gesture that can only be explained by God's displeasure with my unalligence to KJVO and my interest in exploring the Greek language, I came home from Church today to find my dog had eaten two pages of my BAGD!

Bauer Ardnt Gingrich and Danker -- A Greek English Lexicon of the New Testament and Other Early Christian Literature. It is the standard lexical work for NT Greek students. It is something that most KJVOs never look at because it destroys their whole position.

Sorry. I would be highly upset! So did he get it off the shelf himself, or did you have it down for him to get a hold of?

And after getting rid of that evil laxicon, he probably got his heart right and went to study the George Abbot-Smith lexicon.

Some of us use in addition to BAGD, Greek English Lexicon by Liddell and Scott, A Patristic Greek Lexicon by G.W.H. Lampe, Vocabulary of The Greek Testament by Moulton and Milligan, Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament by Louw and Nida and Theological Dictionary of the New Testament 10 Vols.

These books give a good representation of how a word was used in the papyrii, among the philosophers, and the early church fathers. It makes it much easier to trace a word over a longer period of time.

If you get BAGD on computer your dog can't eat it again.

My knowledge of Greek has convinced me even more of the perfection and authority of God's word because I no longer have to depend on the word of 17th century Anglicans to find out what God said. I can read it myself. You should try it ...

He can if he eats it in small bytes.

For good reason Paul said "Beware of dogs".

If I had the originals that would be great, but I don't. I have the best thing to it, the King James Bible.

So you are saying that it is better to have the originals instead of the KJV?

I guess that rules out the KJV for being the perfectly preserved word.

Nice to see that the KJVO theory never contradicts itself.

that's far more honest than other KJBOs who claim that the KJBO 1769 is the divine original. [IMG]

something like this comes to mind:

</font>[/QUOTE]Why do you have to twist what I said? If we had the originals MSS today, it may help to defend what the King James Bible already says. The reason I say "may" is because people like you would find something wrong with the originals.
