Lately I feel indifferent to wheather I go to hell or heaven (I AM BORN AGAIN). I am severly depressed. I am overly tempted to sin and keep praying to God to keep temptation away from me, I try to avoid contact with tempation but it still finds me I dont want to yield to the tempation. I dunno I just feel like taking a gun and putting it in the side of my head. I feel really suicidal, I am going to a doctor tommorow to get on anti depressants. I dunno why God isnt helping me or maybe he is....maybe I deserve this hell I am experiencing, I think I rather go into the lake of fire than keep living. I am really desperate even willing to sell my soul to get rid of this pain. Anyway help if you can....

Not that this is all that you need to do, but for starters, why not try reading and meditating on Psalm 116 since you mentioned in your profile that it was one of your favorite Bible passages.

There's a wealth of reassurance in some of those verses (esp. vv. 1-7)!

I would also suggest you seek some godly counsel about depression because that could very well be what you are experiencing right now.

Elijah, one of the greatest prophets in the OT, seems to have suffered depression (I Kings 19:4-10), yet God still had some important lessons for him.

Your profile also mentioned that you are still looking for a church home. If you still haven't found one, I'd suggest you prayerfully ask God to lead you to one where you can enjoy good Christian fellowship around good Bible teaching and preaching where people can come along side you and personally pray for you during these times.

While it's great to have friends such as you'll find here on BB, it's even better to have good godly friends that can help you on a one-on-one basis. That's one reason why God wants His people to unite with good Bible believing local churches.

    Hope this helps.

    Dear friend:

You are depressed, and not thinking clearly. You will have friends here on this board that will want message with you again, so please come back.

First, you should memorize scripture. It will help you resist temptation.

Second, you need a doctor, as you have said. Please keep the appointment.

Third, you'll need a pastor or Christian counselor. Are you in a good church?

Pray to God, and he will help. You cannot take your own life, for as a believer, you are not your own, you were bought with a price. God has control of your life, not you. I'm praying for you.

I am so sorry you are hurting.

    Psalm 18:16-18

    16 He reached down from on high and took hold of me;
he drew me out of deep waters.

17 He rescued me from my powerful enemy,
from my foes, who were too strong for me.

18 They confronted me in the day of my disaster,
but the LORD was my support.

Hello Benz. I don't think we have ever had any interaction. I just wanted to say that I truly care about you and pray that your doctor visit goes well. My dad suffers depression and without his medication he gets really sick. I'm praying for your quick recovery. I hope that knowing that you have brothers and sisters in Christ on this board who truly care for you will lift your spirit somewhat. God bless you.

You describe pain that we feel many times as born again children of God.

You have an ache in your soul and you are scared of sin and you are tormented by remaining in this world.

Our spirits long to go home to God and escape this sinful world. Our solace in having this thorn in our sides is knowing what awaits us and knowing that God will bring us through anything in this life.

As has been stated, pursue counseling, meds, if needed for depression, and find yourself a good, humble, loving church family. The reason God has us gather together as a church is so we can hold each other up and give comfort to one another because each of us knows what you are going through. We are all faced with temptations and trials everyday and we just wish this life was over so we wouldn't have to deal with them anymore. Our brethren know what we are going through and they are there to help us.

I can't tell you how many times I've called my Pastor just to talk about something that was bothering me. I talk to him just about every other day. I need the assurance of him in knowing that God loves me and brethren love me just to get through the week.

One thing is for sure, and I know from experience, being alone, especially if you're having real suicidal thoughts, is not good. You need to be around people that you love and that love you.

Talk to us on the BB. I've never met you, but I love you for Jesus' sake. We are your brethren. If you do not have people near you to talk to, then talk to us.

    I am praying for you.

May God bless you and give you strength in Him.

    Bro. James

I know what your going through, and God will walk through it with you, even if it doesn't seem so right now. See a doctor, get counseling with a pastor, read the bible, and pray, pray, pray. And never doubt God, no matter how much you feel tempted right now.

Praying that God gives wisdom to the Dr. treating you, benz...

Depression can be very debilitating. Hang in there. One thing you have that most don't who deal with this, is our God living within you!

While you sound desperate, you also sound very much focused on yourself. You need to become actively involved in some ministry that is focused upon others. Perhaps a rescue mission, soup kitchen or some other program where you can get your mind off of yourself.

You have many praying for you. God's will be done in your life.

Amity had the best advice. Don't fool around.

Truly hope the Dr. (Hope he is a Psychiatrist, and not a Family Dr., or a Psychologist). Be sure you tell your Doctor of "suicidal thoughts", and if your Doctor is not a Psychiatrist, I would hope he would get on the phone and talk to one, and send you immediately to him, or her.

Right now try to understand that when you accepted Christ as your savior, every sin you have done, are doing, or will do has been taken care of. When you confessed Him you repented (turned to him) of all your sins which are dead. Satan loves to make our lives miserable if he can, and we are no match for him.

Remember you can't save yourself, and if you are giving into whatever the temptation is, then stop it. If you stub your toe it may hurt; but if you keep doing it the worse it will hurt, and get to the point where it needs some help to stop doing the same thing over, and over again. The pain stops when we stop doing what causes the hurt.

What may be the best help is the three "S's". Smile, Sleep, and Sex. They are all healthy and helpful to the body, when correctly done, getting the right amount, and not overdoing.

Hopefully one of the "magic pills" can get you over the hump.

Here's to brighter days. Let us know how you a coming along.

Just checking in, Benz. Hope your Dr.'s appt. went well. I've been praying for you. :praying: Depression is nothing to play with, but try to keep in mind when you are feeling your absolute lowest that God loves you, and you are here for a reason, even if you don't know what that reason may be. I know that is easier said than done, but it is still the truth nonetheless. Keep your head up, things won't be like this forever. If you start the right treatment, first and foremost, and then find a good church home you'll start to see an improvement.

hey ... why was my question censored? If Benz had called a suicide hotline instead of asking us, that is what they would have asked him, too. It is THE central question in helping those who are contemplating suicide.

My advice is to turn off the TV, radio and CD player, and spend your liesure time working for others, e.g. a mission in the inner city or Habitat for Humanity or something on that order. Make sure it's something physical, though.

Sometime soon, start expressing gratitude to all those who've helped you: your parents, your teachers, your gospel ministers, etc.

In time, you'll find yourself out of this slump.
