I have often wondered what God thinks Christian schools named after a person.
    For example:
    Stetson,
    Baylor,
    Hardin Simmons,
    Bob Jones,
    Hyles Anderson,
    Fuller,
    Howard Payne,
    Moody,

What of a church that would do the same?
    St. Paul,
    St. Timothy,
    St. Mark,
    St. John,
    Spurgeon,
    Schofield,

If you were in charge of naming a church and/or school, would you name it after yourself?

If not, what would be the criterion for naming or renaming (as has been suggested to Hyles Anderson).

Seems that Roman Catholic, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Episcopalian, et al are more prone to naming a church after an apostle or "saint"

    St. James Episcopal
    Timothy Lutheran
    St. Paul Presbyterian
    St. Steven's Catholic

Those are all in my area, and i wouldn't do it. But I also wouldn't go the cliché route of many non-denominational churches, like....

    Living Waters
    Cornerstone
    New Hope

    Again, names I'm familiar with.

It would be harder in a big city, but where I live, "Church of Avondale" sounds about right
