    Now that Larry Bird seems likely to get a casino in Orange County, Indiana, at his hometown of French Lick, the NBA will have even more extensive ties to people who have gambling holdings.

    It turns out that Joe and Gavin Maloof, owners of the Sacramento Kings, also own and operate the Palms Casino in Las Vegas. An acquaintance told me that the Palms is not allowed to take sports bets due to an NBA ruling.

    Are there other links between gambling and the NBA?
