Meanwhile, those who need a place to live in Louisianna are either doing without, being put up in hotels at taxpayer expense. The total cost to taxpayers so far has hit somewhere around 500 million dollars paying for the trailers themselves, storing the trailers in Arkansas, and then paying for displaced citizens who are supposed to be living in the trailers to stay in hotels.

What in the world is going on here?

Trailers mean poor people - no one wants them in their neighborhood.

Fine. Then, why did we waste taxpayer money buying them and why do we continue to waste taxpayer money storing them? If they don't want them, then sell them to a mobile home dealer and get rid of them.

The Governor of Louisana gave the responsibility for locating these trailers to the parish leaders. So far less than 10 out of ~60 have provided space to move the trailers. I suppose that the Gov. of Louisana is at fault just like she was for most of the Katrina problems.

Fine. Then sell the trailers and get rid of them. The responsibility for the trailers not getting placed goes to the Governor in Louisiana. But continuing to waste the taxpayers money waiting to get them placed is the fault of FEMA. I also wonder why this effort seems to not have been coordinated with the local leaders in Lousiana. It seems to me that if I were in charge of FEMA and were going to spend all of that money buying trailers, I might have contacted local leaders to coordinate a plan for where they were to go, etc... before I wasted the taxpayers money buying them and then storing them in Arkansas while we continue to pay millions for hotel rooms.

Joseph, that is too simple. We have buffoons working in our government at all levels. This is just another case in point. And to think, "Good Job, Brownie," is gone and still the problems persist.

The problem is they don't have you and me running things, Joseph. The two of us would be far more efficient and consciencious about wasting taxpayer dollars, but we don't know the right people to get appointed to such cushy government jobs with great benefits and retirement plans.

I have wondered that myself. We still have MANY empty ones sitting around here too. Now, there are alot of occupied ones, too, but it bothers me to see them in the holding lots.
