Even though I fill a pulpit...I guess I am "back-woods" when it comes to church contraversy these days. Can anyone give me a true meaning of Calvinism?

this looks right so far, haven't finished reading yet.
You will fine some people that vary a little here and there, just like armenians vary from each other.

It's an umbrella sort of word. I think if a man believes the five points he should be accepted as a Calvinist.

russell represents a larger part of Calvinism and Vincent Cheung, www.rmiweb.org , represents mine. I recommend his book, free online, The Author of Sin.

Nice to meet you Pastor Timothy. :)

Good to see you James. You are right on about Calvinism. I think where the line is crossed is those who do not believe in missions, evangilism, and outreach. This is not Biblical. It seems some of the posts try to mix the two points.

If there were only two churches in my reach, and one was a Baptist of some type that did not believe in missions and evangelism, and a Presbyterian conservative that did, I will guarantee you I would be running to the latter.

That's pot shots James and they have started to ping. :)

EPH 1:11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will...

    That's why webdog.

And by the way, there is little free grace, it cost the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit a lot.

can't help but take threads off topic? the op didn't ask about arminianism, but Calvinism. the op sets the topic for a thread.

Still can't read Donna? The Free Grace position is not Arminianism. The links explain all three positions, calvinism, arminianism and free grace. As much as you would like it, your view of your doctrine isn't the only view.

humm. I do feel Donna maybe can read, and if you do not think she could, why do you post words to her? :)

    But...

    Let me ask.....

Can you not share your faith in your own words, or must we always read these links?

So....for now, and being that some do not want to read your links.

In your own words.....what is "free" grace.
Like give a 5 or 10 ponit outline of your doctrine...and a verse to back your statement. :)

Start your own thread, James, this thread isn't about sharing our faith. Don't hijack this one too.

The links I provided do explain TULIP...what the OP asked for. It explains it from neither a calvinist position (what has been provided so far here) or arminian position. It really makes no difference in "my words" what the free grace position is. It might not be what you agree with, but oh well. If you don't want to read the links, then don't. Nobody will put a gun to your head in forcing you to do so. :)

It just so happens I have read your links before. Maybe you should read them. If so...you will find these quotes.

Under "U" from your links.....please look at these quotes..

    QUOTE 1

    QUOTE 2

Which one do you believe webdog? After you elect which one you agree with, please tell why one is wrong view and the other right?

    Or..do you agree with both?

    Or...do you disagree with both?

    ***************

This tread is called "Need A True Explaination of Calvinism". You claimed there is another view....which really does not have anything to do with this thread. But...being that you brought it up....prove it. Your very is the same as all free-will groups as far as I can see. You links back me up.

    :)

What part of "don't hijack this thread" don't you understand, James?

I'm sorry...was it me or you that posted the links?

Are we not allowed to ask what you mean with such claims?
Is this yet another strawman, or do you have something to back your claims?

Need A True Explaination of Calvinism....is the thread. Yet I will start one just to address your claims, being now you do not want to talk about it.

Didn't you, johnp, russell55 and donna all supply your own links? Do all of you have to supply your entire theological bent along with those links? Who has asked for this? Where's the strawman? I can't find any...

What "claim" have I made? What "claims" did everyone else who posted on this thread make? Me thinks you just like to stir up strife. :BangHead:

    From the op...
I followed that. What exactly do you have a problem with? I see you still haven't read anything...

Yes all are welcome to post and give links. If you have something you want to ask about my links...go for it.

I asked YOU to give support your post. You are saying I cannot reply to your links?
    That is a strawman.

I don't have to give "support" for anything, nor did my post warrant a need to do so. The op asked for a meaning of calvinism. I supplied that. Nothing strawman about any of that. The only strawmen I see are coming from you.
