Pastor Bob sent me a song off of the CD his group made (Shepherds' Voice).

It opens in Windows Media Player and has a .wma extension.

How can I change it to a .mid extension so I can put it on a web site?

I have the whole CD. Could I play that on my computer and somehow change it to a .mid file that way?

You can't change a .wma to a .mid, but you can put it on a Web site. You can either keep it a .wma, or convert it to a .mp3 or .wav

An .mid file is a MIDI, which is like the music made with an electric keyboard.

I put my wifes music on her site as .mp3's.

Here are some software tools you can use to conver the file:

I downloaded the converter wizard and converted the file from .wma to .wav.

I still cannot get it uploaded to the file manager on geocities where I have my pages.

    What am I doing wrong???

.wavs are usually HUGE. Could be the file is too big to upload to Geocities.

A page usually pops up telling me the upload was successful or it was NOT successful and why. That is not happening.

It shows the upload bar as complete, but then nothing else happens. It's like it stalls and no page pops up to tell me anything.

If I play the CD on my computer; can I download the track I want and put it into my 'midi' files?

OK Pete, will find out how big the file is.

The .wav file is 28.1 MB.

The .wma file is 2.57 MB. This is on the Windows Media player.

    The MP3 file is 2.55 MB (I don't have an MP3 player)

I can't upload the .wav OR .wma file.

    oh......

28.1 MB...... THAT explains it [IMG] Would freak out most servers trying to upload that [IMG]

I think .wma should upload  ....Have you tried uploading the mp3?

I just uploaded MP3. Woo hoo!

Now I have another problem. I have the song on the page, but it cuts off and stops playing in the middle of the song (right when Pastor Bob - my son - starts his solo part).

Can you tell anything by going to the page?

Sue, you might have uploaded the mp3, but page source shows somebodytouchedme.wav is embedded. It would be cutting out because all of the wav didn't upload when you were trying that earlier.

Another point: Geocities don't give you too much bandwidth to play with, so either converting the mp3 to lower quality and/or having it as a download instead of embedding it into the page might be an idea.

Pete, I'm not sure what you are suggesting. Embedding it into the page?

You mean put a link to the song instead of having it play on the page?

    Sue, yup [IMG]

Embedding it just means having it playing on the page the way it was. Just checked page again, works well now the mp3 is linked [IMG]

Hmmmm. It plays on Windows Media on my computer. Don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Yes, but I uploaded it again. It is not on the site, but it is in my File Manager.

I have never had an MP3 player installed on this computer.

I copied the URL for the file to my Windows Media Player and it wouldn't work either. :(

I clicked the link, and it played through Windows Media Player.
