How do I change a picture from .bmp to .gif or .jpg?

I have tried everything I know and haven't been able to figure it out.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

You will need a graphic program - open it in the program, then save as in file menu and at the bottom there should be a format option and pick the one you want.

XP has "paint" which will do it or any of the other graphic programs.

When I try to open it with "paint", I get an error message that says the picture cannot be found and I'm sitting here looking at it!

I have Kodak Share, but it won't let me change the format.

VERY weird it saying it can't be found...Is it looking in right place for the pic?

I use Irfan View as default image viewer, great freeware program for minor fiddles.

You said you are looking at the picture. If you mean the actual picture: If you have the pic open in another program paint might report not found as a general message that it can't be opened. Close the other program and try it.

I finally figured out how to do it with Kodak share. I'm not too bright when it comes to computers.

    Thanks all for your help!

    Sue,

I would have told you to do this:

    Open the pic in Kodak
Hold down Alt button and hit the PrintScreen button
    Open Paint under Programs/Accessories
    Click Edit and Paste
    There is your Picture
    Select All
Move Pic to left to get rid of excess
    Save and exit.
