Birds frequently hybridize, and sometimes, you get a new speciies after a period of time.

There was a new bird species discovered in Brazil a coupla years ago that is entirely-different in size, song, diet, & habitat from its closest "relatives". It lives near a city of about 20,000, is sparrow-size, & not reclusive, "sings" often, does NOT flee at the sight of humans, is NOT uncommon, and woulda obviously been noticed long ago had it existed.
