If Eccleston would have stuck with the role another year I think he would have been challenging Baker & Pertwee for title of greatest Doctor. When I get some $$ I'll be picking up Eccleston series on DVD.

Trying not to add any spoilers...Best lines in the Eccleston series: "how can you stop us, you have no plan..." ... "yeah, and doesn't that just scare you..." :D "Hitler's army is marching across Europe, and one damp little island says "No, not here!"" :D Oh, and "Go to your room!" :D

Anzac Day next Tuesday, should make enough in cab that night to pick the set up [IMG] [IMG]

Hey Ben, you seen anything saying when/if Auntie ABC will be showing Tennant series here?

I understand the First Season is or will be available in it's entirety on DVD...

I, too, am sorry Eccleston isn't staying on...

I didn't think he could do the "Doctor"

But, after wtaching he did have some really good facial and body language...

I felt right at home with him as the Doctor...

Same here. In May 1983, my sister told me about this new show she found on PBS and she said I would really like it. Did I ever. So, I sat down at 10pm and the very first episode of Doctor Who I ever saw was episode 2 of The Armageddon Factor. I was hooked. I watched it every night and both episodes on Saturday night for 4 years.

Yeah, I was a geek. Shut up. So are you. ;)

Best - and most chilling - line in Eccelston's season was in Dalek: "You would make a good Dalek".

"Tooth and Claw", Tennant's second episode, involving the werewolf and shown this evening, was very good: a much better pace than last week's episode, lots of 'haunted-house-on-the-hill' atmosphere plus high-adrenalin chases. And, of course, in true DW style, the werewolf isn't a supernatural being but an alien life form, so Christians need not feel guilty about watching it.

You're talking about "Father's Day", right? Fantastic episode in every way.

The dragon things were kind of random, I thought. If I were Rose, I would have pushed both my parents off the belfry!

There's quite a bit of theological stuff going on, wouldn't you say? The theme of sacrifice to save others in 'Father's Day', for example and, in the episode in David Tennant's series screened last night over here (without breaking any secrets, this one, 'School Reunion' is a must-see when you get in the States) had the Doctor being offered, a la Temptation in the Wilderness, the chance to become a god and to end suffering and death if only he would join with the baddies...

I have seen the last two episodes to air on Scifi, and I am hooked once again. I havn't seen any version of the Doctor in years, but I am glad he is back. I will probably pick up season one when the DVD comes out this summer.

Yes "fathers day" is the one.

I find myself looking forward to each friday so I can see the next episode.

Of course Friday on Sci Fi is great anyway, Stargate, Stargate Atlantis, and Doctor Who, man what a great line up.

You're going to love "The Empty Child", which is your next episode. It's the first of a two-parter so make sure you see the whole thing. Think Outer Limits meets Buffy. It also introduces a new character...

Matt, you are right on about "The Empty Child". I've seen nearly every Doctor Who episode that's ever been made, and this is one of the creepiest. I felt like a kid wanting to watch with both hands over my eyes peeking through my fingers.

I loved it. Fantastic story. I've seen countless shows where the 1st episode of a 2 part story is so much better than the 2nd. In this case, the 2nd was just as good because the writers understood that while creepiness could carry the day the first time, creepiness wasn't going to get it done in the 2nd episode.

I've said it before. The strength of Dr. Who has always been story-telling. Not great acting by all, though there have been some good actors and actresses through the years. Certainly not production values. But great storytelling. Like how the shows surprises us with the true story that was right in front of us all along, but we didn't see it because we assumed too much.

I might be overthinking this, but it seems like the Doctor this season is very tormented and hurting. He's always been happy about saving lives of course, but there was something more in this one. He had a desperation about him that I've not seen before.

Looking back over what we've seen so far, I have to wonder if some of the enemies we've seen this season are a direct result of the Time War, and if some of his behavior, like the desperation he showed in Empty Child, has come about precisely because of the aftermath of the Time War. I don't know if I'm making any sense or just talking out of my hat.

Regardless, I'm thrilled that they brought the Doctor back, and that they made it so good.

Very good two-parter. I knew what was happening in the second when they were listening to the recording and started hearing, "I'm here. I'm here, can you see me?"

If you were watching closely, you could catch the tape ending. The other spooky one was when Nancy pointed out that the typewriter was still going.

The Doctor is certainly a lot more hard-nosed as a result of the Time War, as we are seeing over here with Season 2
