CrabTownBoy - will you admit that you erred in regards to at least one area of the article?

Wallis promotes Obama, yet pretends to be non-political. He claims to care more for the poor than conservatives do, but based on what evidence? How has his organization helped people more than, for instance, the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief fund? Or the SBC’s New Orleans area rebuilding program? Or the SBC’s Hunger Ministry?

Well I guess if Wallis & Friends oppose Bush then they must be much more compassionate

The NT story is not "all about saving souls". It includes this, yes, but the picture is much bigger than this. Jesus tells us that the kingdom of God has arrived. This is a kingdom for this earth too, and the church is called to implement that Kingdom, not to focus solely on "saving souls". That is, of course, important.

But Jesus preached good news for the poor. And this means that we Christians are indeed called to make this world a more fair and just place.

Well, I see CrabTownBoy has posted a few times (in other threads) since I asked for his acknowledgment that he erred in regards to the article he posted a link to.

Guess that was too much to ask.

I stopped reading when I saw that they supported obama, to me that means that they don't mind spitting in the face of God by supporting murder of children in the womb. Just as all obama supports do whether or not they want to admit to it.

Really? This "older generation" of "conservatives" in the Southern Baptist Convention make up the LARGEST foreign mission outreach organization in the United States, doing FAR more than any of the left wing crazies that just talk about such issues, and blame these same conservatives for "not caring".

If you had two boats being attacked, one full of Naval soldiers who were fighting back, and the other full of innocent new born babies, which one do you think would be the right one to concentrate upon saving first?

I will not apologize for being "intolerant" and "divisive" to people who desire to murder children.

Brother, do you research these comments at ALL?

From a speech by Pres. Bush to the SBC...
    Also...
The people that you are accusing, are the ones who have done the most. There are few, if any, organizations that one could label "old conservative" MORE than the Southern Baptist Convention: and they are doing more in the areas you mentioned than anybody. Unlike the lefties, they just don't go around tooting their own horn, or attacking the people that are actually doing the work for not "talking" about it. Conservatives are spending too much time feeding the homeless, and caring for the AIDS stricken, to stand around in washington and complain!

It should read, "The new liberals, which really are the same old liberals, buck the Republican party."

You know its a sad day: a day for weeping and mourning: when those who profess to be Christians and who appear to be leaders and people o f influence, pick up the secular mantras of the world in embracing the actions and giving support to people who chose a lifestyle of sin........................... and join the devils crowd to criticsize other Christians as though they were doing nothing. Its even worse when they lay a charge of avoidance or omission when in fact the opposite is true.

Thank you for submitting this example.
Sadly many do fail not knowing the scriptures: They know mostly what they've been taught and if scriptures were involved, what was taken out of context to prove a worldly view.
I would submit my own answer to this, but I've seen that posters' have no respect from those with opposing views, particularly when standing alone, so I'll let another Christian speak for me regarding the 'kingdom of God' (which is in us....NOT THE WORLD) and the deception that the world has invaded the churched to accept that this kingdom is built by human hands:

    http://www.trumpetmin.org/world politics.htm

As Christians, we should be more familiar with the scriptures and recognize that for every plan of God, the devil has had a counter plan........ sometimes with intention of stopping the plan of God..... sometimes with intention of replacing with a counterfeit. There was a curse on the house of David..... which was broken by the indirect lineage of Mary and the direct lineage of Joseph and the natural heir apparent to the throne, Jesus, who will one day rule the world. But before that happens, an antichrist will control and rule the world. Herod thought he could kill God's son, but God had a better plan. When Jesus was crucified, the devil thought he'd won the battle... but, in spite of his attempt to kill the son of God... he was fulfilling the very plan which was one of sacrifice once and for all for the sins of all mankind. He is after every soul which might be converted: He's causing confusion in the church and among Christians. He wants Christians to be critical of each other and divisive and confused over the mission which Jesus gave to us. It is his delight when we take our focus off Jesus and turn it to the problems in this world. And we are acting like stupid ignoramuses when we allow him the pleasure of succeeding in his intent: We do not realize the very power of the gospel to correct these ills: We are distracted by the illusion that addressing the 'ills' will make them go away. We are distracted by the false criticism which others level against us and become defensive in trusting our flesh instead of conducting spiritual warfare in the armour which God has designed. We should weep and mourn over the lost, the sick, the persecuted, those dying without the Savior, and the apostasy and distractions which are infiltrating the church and our mission...... instead of using them as tools, we are beginning to see them as goals................ and those goals are forever unobtainable without Jesus Christ at the headship of us and the church.

    No.

His MO is to make some thoroughly outlandish and false statements and disappear when called on to back up his lies.

    Amen, Brother!

I really tire of the falsehoods posted on this board about Conservative Evangelical Christians. Color me disgusted. Documentation has been presented about the work the SBC benevolence that has been going on for generations. Also millions and millions of dollars in food, clothing, shelter, medical, and educational donations have been given through the decades by Catholic charities who are also against abortion and other conservative anti-abortion groups such as Samaritan's Purse (Franklin Graham).

Let me ask you a question:
What do you know about the kingdom of heaven? and
What did Jesus say about the kingdom of heaven?

I make no pretense regarding the context of these verses but present them as verses addressing the subject of the kingdom of heaven from which you may study the characteristics. In which of these do you find world government or social programs and if you find any evidence, is it part of the kingdom or is it a distraction or an opposition to the kingdom of heaven?

What falsehoods? A strong case can be made for delusion, in Progressive/Liberal Christians. I can reluctantly understand stances by weaker brethren that are so called Progressives, but cannot at all see a Liberal as a Brother in Christ. To condone abortion and/or the homosexual positions is a stand against Christ. IMO
