I don't have a MacArthur Study Bible, but if it is anything like his web page, it must be pretty good.

I have the MacArthur NASB. The notes are excellent, and the addition of a concordance addresses what I considered to be a shortcoming of the NKJV edition.

My only point of dissatisfaction is the quality of the paper used for its pages. It is so thin that print shows through to the reverse side of the page. It probably is not much of an issue for many readers, but I find it difficult clearly to see the text.

    Thumbs Up

I have both the NKJV and the NASB version of the MacArthur study Bible. I got the NKJV several years ago when it first came out (my copy is now falling apart) and just recently got my copy of the NASB version. It is a great study resource! I endorse most anything my John MacArthur.

I think JM's study bibles are great but are a bit overkill. Do we really need comments on EVERY SINGLE verse of scripture? This can get distracting. Also, I found it a bit arrogant that JM's name was boldy labeled on the spine while the words "Holy Bible" were much smaller and beneath his, but I don't know if he intended it that way.

I have the MacArthur NASB study bible and like it. I had the NKJV one a few years ago but gave it to my son as I am just not that greatly fond of the NKJV (though I like it - I just like NASB better).

My only complaint is that the print is kind of small, but I think it's necessary because of all the notes. True, there are a lot of notes, but you can read what you want and skip the rest.

Chris, as far as MacArthur's name being so big on the spine, my guess is that that was the publisher's decision. It was probably done for marketing since his name is so recognizeable.
